Near (and everyone else - don't want to single you out, Near)

Are you basically calling the Native Americans heathens? Whose to say they aren't right and the Christians are wrong? I would like anyone here who has personally met God to speak now and tell us about it. Did he say that the Native Americans are all wrong in their beliefs? What about the Buddhists, the Muslims, the Jews, the Hindus? All wrong? That's a pretty arrogant way of thinking, IMO. I thought we were supposed to be humble? From what I've read, Jesus sure was. My daughter, who is 1/4 Cherokee and 1/4 Blackfoot would beg to differ with Native Americans being called heathens.

I consider myself a Christian. I believe in the teachings of Christ. However, I'm not so arrogant to think that I'm 100% correct in my beliefs. Guess we won't know until we get there.

dbl

Only what I remember from my younger days. I remember that Jesus was a teacher and welcomed all to listen. I also remember that he preached love, not hate and intolerance. I'm old now, don't ya know so my 'membering is limited! I haven't gone to church in a long time. Can't stand organized religion anymore. I have, from time to time, picked up the Bible though.

A funny story. My mother is Methodist and was bound and determined to raise us that way. So, while we were young (mid 50's, early 60's) she saw that we went to Sunday school every week. My father signed us up and she just assumed he knew what he was doing. She was soooo proud. Since she worked on Sundays, she used to just drop us off and pick us up afterward. Well, one Sunday the Sunday school class was giving a program and my mother managed to get that day off. Was she in for the surprise of her life!!! She had never paid attention to the fact that the church was BAPTIST! My father got the tongue lashing of his life. This was a rural community at the time and really the only church around. Seems she never paid attention to the sign out front stating that it was a Baptist church, not Methodist, either. LOL! Back then you stuck pretty much to your own. I haven't been back to a Baptist church since. My mother scared the bejesus out of me over that.

What's even funnier, dbl, is all I have to do is give a loud "Alleluia" with my arms thrown into the air to get a rise out of her to this day!
