We finally are getting rain around here.
Some place even flooded for a short time.
It has been so dry here that my lawn has 3 inch wide cracks in it.
So how is it out there (or down under or up there or over the big pond)?

Any thing but politics

We've finally quit having 108 degree days - it was actually almost pleasant in the DFW area today - seems to be around the 90's and a nice breeze. I'm still looking for rain though - Saw a spot or two a few days ago but most of it went around us.

In the very near future we may have more than one thread about politics. I am thinking of starting a thread to officially announce my candidacy for President...

Have fun with it...I didnt mean for it to be taken any other way. Just stating Im tired of politics every year when this happens.

Let's see, the weather here is sunny sunny sunny in the mid 80's and haven't seen a good rainfall in over a year... a few showers when the big bad hurricane rolled through (yawn) last month but no 'real' rain. Would love some.

Snowyegret:
Maybe if we all synchronize our watches and
aim our hair dryers south at the same time we can blow it out of the gulf.
We haven't had a major hurricane since I moved to Texas and I don't want one now.

Isn't there some silly saying about a butterfly in the amazon fluttering its wings and it ends up effecting a wind storm somewhere else.
Come on guys I know I heard this somewhere.

But then I did have a wine cooler with diner.

Weather, now that is a really safe topic.

We had a really nice day her today. It was around 70 degrees with lots of sunshine.

The farmers who had the hail have started using these gizmos that attach to a combine head to pick the corn off the ground.

Our Homecoming was today and we won our game. Can't get better than that especially who we beat!

Al Gore has started a New England campaign push, promising warmer winters, cooler summers, and less humidity for the entire northeast.

Speaking of wind drifts, George Bush has issued statements in which he blames the unusually hot summer on high pressure areas in Mexico. He promised that if elected he would double the funding of the U.S Border Patrol in order to stop the illegal migration of Mexican hot air.

This is a weather thread. As to that, does anybody know whether Al Gore has any children?

Now it's a children thread.

Sometimes hot air causes fires and flames if not controlled, or carelessly left burning. It is wise to try to alleviate any threats of eruption. Lately, its been very nice here...warm and breezy in the afternoons, no fog at night, but cool enough for a heater after the sun goes down. Central coast here..dont know where the rest of you are located. Wish it would rain...we need it, as its been a dry summer.

Deer look? You mean, confusion?

I heard that Ralph Nader, Green party candidate for president, remarked on the central coast of California weather during his talk at Cisco in Santa Clara, a company that he owns a fair chunk of in stock.

We have lovely weather here. You are near here I believe, so you know. The best weather...cool clean breezes from the ocean, not too hot, like in the valley (Fresno, Bakersfield)...nice here. I like it.

Sometimes the weather can change drastically - rather quickly. Out of no where a storm just pops up. Twisters in Texas are frightening to watch - especially if you didn't see it coming. One minute all is calm - then wham - you're running for your life. Usually, they pass quickly and when we're lucky, no damage is left behind.

OTOH,Trying to keep in the proper vein of the topic; weather Al Gore has any children isn't as important to me as weather George Bush has direct knowledge of high pressure areas in Mexico or its effect on the illegal migration of hot air. As serious voters and dedicated weather watchers we should keep our priorities straight when discussing the weather.

'Course, it doesnt take much to get a nice hot out-of-control fire burning from the southwest...like the Harris fire that is burning right now. Doesnt take much, does it?
