Maui,

We are in the same state by some pretty serious political error only. I'm in Northern California and you are in Southern California. There should have been a divisive line as Virginia, Carolina, and Dakota have drawn at Big Sur.

No No No. Im not in southern california. Im in CENTRAL COAST California. Big difference. I refuse to be in southern. Nope. Not gonna do it. Im only 3 & 1/2 hours from San Jose...and Im 4 from LA. That makes me more Northern than southern. In fact, ask anyone here in this area and they will all fight to the death to be either CENTRAL or NORTHERN. No likey southern.

Say what you want. You're south of Big Sur. Might as well be in San Ysidro.

Have either of you ever taken the Amtrak Coast Starlight? My dad was a train enginer so I've had a love for trains all my life. I get on in San Jose and go to LA. It's one of the most beautiful trips. Especially coming back and watching the sunset over the ocean. I go to El Paso about every three years on the train. There is a stop over of a couple hours in LA but the train station is done in art deco with beautiful gardens and I don't mind the wait. I really spoil myself. I get a room for the whole trip it includes meals and sometimes I have them brought to my room or if I want to visit I go to the dinning car. The food is great too! Also with first class you get free coffee, and soft drinks any time you want them. In the morning you get a paper, orange juice and a roll before breakfast. I won't even go to El Paso if I can't take the train. I hate El Paso.
Maui, I want chocolate cake 24/7.

Ugh, the weather is not such a good subject around here lately. We're hitting record highs. We should be in the 90's and it was like 110 Thurs. Where is fall??

Hurricane Watch in effect. Tropical Storm Gordon is in the Gulf, heading NNE. Battleship grey skies here.

Beautiful Fall morning in south east texas.
First cool morning in a long time. I think it was in the 70's.
It's 80 something now and I'm going swimming.
I hope that tropical storm sputters out.

krs,
Guess that's what happens when one stays up most of the night! Wow a record, though a small one to be sure but what the heck.

I'm ready for a cool fall morning. muggy here. Unfortunately, it looks like Gordon is going to roar this way. Would it be a misuse of Priority tape to use some on the windows?

snowyegret, I think as long as you use it to cover windows that are in or near a room used to package things for USPS shipment its OK!

Should I be watching the weather? Where is that storm headed.

Snowyegret:

Probably, but maybe if you put a big stamp on the side of the house it will get delivered to a hurricane free zone.

tegan: Right now, Gordon's track has it heading to west central Fl. Too early to guess landfall. Glad TX is getting some decent weather at last. My mom the green thumb gardener had a lot of plants die on her this year.
I just might stamp the house tommorrow am.

It's down right cold here in Michigan. We are lucky to get into the lower 70's during the day. Most days it stays around the 50's. At night it falls to the low 40's. I have to drag my annual potted plants into the garage each night. This is going to kill me.

The leaves are starting to change. Up north they are enjoying a great color tour. Fall is here.

Looks as tho' summer has, once again, bid us a fond farewell....The days are sun filled, but cool, the nights even cooler...lending themselves to wonderful open window, comfy blanket, snuggling weather.....We frolic & toil with a lively step, not possible in the summer heat...But we know, all too well, that soon the leaves will turn and tumble to the ground, leaving only the silhouettes of the tree branches on the snow covered lawns...We pack away the swimsuits & tanktops, traded for long pants & sweatshirts...We close our windows & turn on the heat....We weep, for we live for the dance of the summer warmth & wonder once again "Why the &*(^ are we still livin' here!"
