molly001 and TRancher -
DO NOT use the QUICK FORMAT ... all it does is erase the files and that leaves the Sony with the same crappy diskette. You need to do the FULL erase in order to wipe out ALL traces of previous pictures.
That's why I suggested using the RUN option ... it only has ONE way to format and it does the full format, one diskette after another. For more than 2 or 3 diskettes, it is faster because you just keep pressing ENTER and Y instead of all that mousing around.

Thanks, abacaxi! I always know there's something new to learn. On the way I said to do it, there is also a "Full" format. If I stay with this "area" of doing this, I suppose I want to choose Full Format as opposed to "Quick Erase"?
I will also try what you have suggested under the "Run" feature.

Focus: If you are doing close-up work especially, make sure that you don't have the camera set on auto-focus. I think you'll find the best shots can be achieved with manuel, rather than auto, focus.
if you want to see some really nice, crisp Sony Mavica shots, check out the various pages at

I've had mine about a week.
Dropped it 6 times, but so far it is OK. Worst thing is the button to shoot is hard to push down (for me anyway).
Ends up giving me a blurred image.
I'll get the hang of it. You will too!!
ALL I KNOW IS IT TAKES
~~~~Some FINE pics!!~~~~~
I kinda feel guilty cause the items look better than they really are!
You might consider buying a 37mm UV protective filter. I don't know how much it helps my photos, but I know it keeps the lens from getting scratched. Tiffen makes one that screws right in to the existing lens. I think I paid about $10.00 for mine.
