This was reported ..

"In its formal announcement, the campaign pointed to her powers as head of the Alaska National Guard and the mother of a soldier herself as evidence that she "understands what it takes to lead our nation..."

huh? Do they really expect a voter to believe that statement? Next they will tell us that she is an active ebayer and believes Best Match is the best for ebay.

I'm still laughing. They must have ebay publicity people working on the campaign.

Nah - they have the former CEO of eBay working on the campaign. Now we know where the "windorphins" campaign idea came from.

The selection of Palin in no way guarantees the female vote. She is strongly pro-life, anti-gay,extremely conservative and does not support important women's issues. She also takes away one of McCain's most persistent arguments against Obama---inexperience.

To lead McCain"s kind of nation, that may be all that's needed.

It has been reported that she also likes moosemeat.

McCain has a large lead in males, Obama has an even larger lead in female voters, MANY of whom are disgruntled Hillary supporters. We're going to see just how many professional women go for a good moose steak.

They have appeased conservatives who find McCain too liberal and are brokering the femme card.

Squirrel--Evidence of your lack of regard for the intelligence and judgment of women is the fact you think they will vote for McCain/Palin just because he picked a female VP. More important are the issues. She is anti-choice (a very important issue to many women)hasn't really "thought much about the war", and is extremely conservative. These things may appeal to conservative women, if they can bring themselves to vote for a woman at all, but they certainly do not appeal to women who are moderate to liberal.

McCain does not even know Gov. Palin. They met exactly twice (some say only once.) It smacks of a gimmick. I read a report that a McCain insider said you will know what McCain thinks of his chances by the VP he picks. If he picks Romney or Ridge, he feels his chances are very good. If he picks someone surprising (like Palin) he feels he needs do something drastic to win.

Her views certainly are against my views. As a female...I am voting for OBAMA.

It would take a woman with a severly impaired brain to vote for Sara Palin, an unqualified woman who could be a potential President of the United States. With this selection, McCain has exposed again his bad judgement.

McCain's nomination of Sara Palin is an insult to women.

According to McCain, his key criteria in choice of a VP is someone who could step in immediately and take his place, if need be. Last month he said he hadn't thought of choosing a woman. And now it's said that he's only met her once before so I find it difficult to believe he suddenly has so much faith in her, especially if she says she hasn't even thought much about the war in Iraq. She is a very strange choice.

She did play a flute in a beauty pageant so does that count for anything?

Once again Helen is crying in her beer

If the Democratic choice would have been Hilary the election may have been very well over Yesterday! (Your so called Dream Team)
But the Democrats once again showed They have no CLUE what the nation wants!

The GOP is tuned in to the people, and will do the right thing for the people, and they showed it Today by selecting the real (Dream Team!)

So Helen and the rest of you Democrats here, you keep right on posting & C&P ing but the only thing you are going to get for your time at the keyboard is Carple tunnel syndrom!

The GOP just won the election (Once Again)

And If Helen Is Right As She Always Thinks She Is,And If This Woman Preforms A I Hope She Will!
This Will Be The WOMAN I Will Vote For To Be President!

Before I posted this,I did a spell check,The only words spelled wrong were in Helens Quote so I left it as/is wouldn't want to change Helens Words in any way!

My jaw just dropped this morning when the news came out about Palin. HOW DUMB DO THEY THINK WOMEN ARE?!!!!!!!! That we'd vote for ANY woman on ANY ticket? As Dr. Phil would say, "Do I have stupid written on my forehead?"

Anti-choice, anti-gay, working mother of five! Tsk. Outside the home, yet. Assembly of God church member (that explains the hair she won't cut). At first we were certain she's Mormon. From Idaho, pronounced some Idaho-type words oddly, has 5 kids, etc.

She is peppy and seems to have spunk.

But Hillary supporters are too smart to fall for "any woman, any time, on any ticket." It's really insulting.

Dad--She is not the right woman for me. I am as much a feminist as any woman, but I do not vote for a candidate because she is a woman. I vote for a candidate on the issues important to me. I would venture to say most women do the same. As a man, please don't presume to know how we women think. In 2,000+ years you haven't figured us out yet.

Really?? How about:

"carple" (carpal)
"syndrom" (syndrome)
"Helens" (Helen's)
"as/is" (as is)
"Preforms" (performs)

Your "spell check" is broken

This is the most comical move McCain has made yet. Clearly desperation.

Obama's acceptance speech had more viewers than the opening ceremonies of the olympics and had twice as many viewers as Kerry's acceptance speech. We'll see what McCain's audience looks like next week. All these supposed disgruntled Hillary supporters are either Republican shills or will eventually vote for Obama, and McCain's veep pick has now pretty much guaranteed that.

For months McCain has talked about war and the threat of terrorism and he's made that the number one issue of his campaign. To choose someone with no record of experience in national security or foreign policy makes me wonder how much of his talk about the terrorism threat is a real belief and how much is manufactured fear to justify more war.

You don't think he'd really do that do you? My goodness, wherever would he learn such dirty tricks?

Profe, I think he'd do that and lots of other dirty tricks he's learned. Right now I think he may be using Palin to draw a bit of excitement to his campaign. Maybe she'll be pressured to drop out after the convention before she becomes an embarrassment - she can use her family as an excuse and then McCain can pick who he really wants.

Novel idea, Kiara! I hadn't thought of that. Yes, the children, and especially the new baby, would need her too much. (I doubt that, though; she probably has stars in her eyes over this unexpected opportunity.)

The mother of a soldier as evidence that she understands what it takes to lead our nation......then 400,000 other mothers and fathers of soldiers must be as equally qualified for the VP job.

That is as bad as the Fox correspondant who said Palin has foreign affairs experience because Alaska is near the Soviet Union.

How do people come up with this stuff?
