reddeer: I could be wrong, but I think that portion of the project is not included with this portion of the roll-out as it is right now.

I don't have time to go checkin' into it either as I am going to be out of the country for a few weeks very soon.

That's correct, it isn't. I thought I said "in the near future", maybe not?

Have fun on your getaway, wherever you're heading to.

It is all part of a cleverly constructed plan by ebay, to supress the opressed. To strangle the strung, and to mock the mute.

It is just another big brother plan, perpetrated by the man, to try and keep a brotha down...

I'm putting in a request for eBay to immediately ban women from emailing anyone
ever. Their participation in eBay has been distracting, and they belong in the kitchen anyway.

Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a man named Pierre
A poor dot.commer, barely kept his family fed
And then one day, he was playin with his pez
And he thought what the heck, I can sell these on the web
World Wide Web that is, WWW, dot.com paradise.

Well, the first thing you know, old Pierre's a billionaire
Kin folk said, Pierre, move away from there
Said, Californy ain't the place you oughta be
So he loaded up the plane and he moved to gay Paris
France, that is, swimmin' pools, but no movie stars

Well, now it's time to say goodbye to Pierre and all his kin
They would like to thank you folks for kindly droppin' in
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heapin' helpin' of their c-o-m-m-u-n-i-t-y

Billionarity, that is, set a spell, pay us some more fees.

Y'all come back now, hear?

Reddeer......very good. Not only good opinions but a good sense of humor. Thanks for answering my earlier question. I'm looking forward to going "public" again, though in my particular high end field I'm afraid that most of the quality buyers have already been siphoned away, and what will be left in the future is newbies from second and third world countries.

Hey, reddeer. EBay paved over Paradise and put up a parking lot.

There's no doubt in my mind that they'll eventually FORBID all email and web page links in order to have total control over the user base. This is what I feared when you brought up this subject some time ago - my loss of choices and the subsequent loss of control over my business.

SO SAD!!

Hiya Blanche

Sorry, I don't do Joni Mitchell.

Yup, I get the feeling you were right about this one. It's a very hard pill to swallow. eBay can blah-blah-blah all they want about why this new rule was implemented, but if they disallow email addys & email links on the auction pages, then I guess we'll know what it was really all about.

Damn those billionaires!

My problem with this is that I've had way to many emails come in in the final hour or so of the auction where I've answered a question and the people place a bid. How reliable is their email forwarding system going to be? I don't want emails that where sent an hour before the auction closed to be delivered ten minutes after it closed.

I understand about spam, and get lots of it, but if the subject line asks if I made $50,000 last week, or if it asks if I need a diploma, I hit the delete button real quick, and figure it is something I have to put up with in order to buy and sell on the net. (I get just as much junk mail in the metal box out by the road, and it goes in the trash too.)

microbes: I posted this earlier in the thread, but thought maybe ya missed it....

When eMails are forwarded in this new eBay eMail system, there is a default set to send self a copy. This ensures that you will obtain a copy of the eMail you are sending to another eBay member for your records. It is important that you maintain the default for sending self a copy as eBay WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR EMAIL EXCHANGES!!

If there is a problem with forwarding your eMail to the other member, the system will automatically attempt to resend 3 times (within about 5 minutes) - you will also receive a notice of the status of the eMail in the event of any problems sending.

This should ensure that all correspondence gets through within a timely mannor OR the parties are NOTIFIED of the status of their eMail.

Hope this info is helpful.

Here's another answer to those who actually amazingly BELIEVE that any auction inquiry emails sent to YOU as the seller are sure to get through expeditiously, and not be subject to ebay server problems, thus possibly costing sellers money-

I have had 11 auctions end successfully since 8 AM PST. I have not received ONE SINGLE EOA notice, which I use to create invoices. Someone explain to me why a function that has been in place on eBay almost from the beginning routinely fails to deliver/create emails expeditiously, YET THIS NEW SYSTEM WILL?
