OMG, how do you sandbag a levy about to get hit by a hurricane of the magnitude of Katrina? They had every expectation that those levies would hold. They should have been able to expect them to hold. Look at how many people died in Galveston at the turn of the last century. I supposed you think they should have sangbagged as well. Oh, but wait a minute. They were mostly white and wealthy. I also don't see you being critical of those in Key West who choose to ignore evacuation orders as well. But then, how many of them are minorities?

I do find the comparison to be bigoted. I tried not to come right out and say it.

Edited to add: It was the development of coastal wetlands that caused the problem to begin with. You can hardly blame the poor of New Orleans for that.

You have to compare New Orleans to Los Angelos ,not a small midwestern town .
