Have had same problem as many here. I mail from main post office in larger WI city. Everything weighed and stamped by PO and has taken 17 days to CA. That is not acceptable for 1ST Class mail but what to do?

May just go 100% priority but that is exactly what the PO wants us to do. It is bad enough that we are so dependant on them but when they do things to force us to use only their overpriced options they have gone too far.

Will continue to fill out service cards but expect nothing to come of it.

Columbus, Ohio seems to take the cake for poor postal service. It took 27 days for a first class envelope to arrive in Massachusetts...then we shipped priority, insured and read what happened next...straight from the customer.

You are right that our mail is HORRIBLE. Today they left me a "final notice" to
pick up my package from you, which of course I picked up last week. Can you
believe this? If I didn't have this notice in my hand I would think it was a
joke!!!

My company actually made a decision to move a large part of our operation to
Cincinati after doing a mail survey in Columbus.

What is the problem??? This is unconsionable, ridiculous and not to be believed. I know I had a hard time believing that the customer was having this problem. Thank goodness I kept my cool.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the letter my friend was waiting for was within CA. He could have driven there in bad traffic, and picked it in an hour.

The union also held his pension check because he didn't return the signed document. How could he return it if he never got it?

Do we have to accept this poor service because it's the USPS, or is there something we can do to stop this abuse?

Hi all,

I know this started out as 'bubble mailer's' being targeted.. but, as a seller, I am worried about what's going on with usps. I have had 3 of my buyers, tell me they have sent M.O.'s and I have never received them! I got an email yesterday from 1 I was checking on payment status as it had been 2 weeks.. she said I was the 3rd seller to let her know, her payments had not arrived! Thank goodness she sent checks, which she has stopped payment on and will resend payment.. or try to! I don't like my buyers having to resend M.O's, it seems it will eventually reflect us as sellers! I am beginning to believe it might be safer to pay with Bidpay or Paypal!
Also, I have rec'd one of my bills from Jan. back in a plastic bag.. it was ripped in half! So now I am late on a bill,, I never had these problems til -the rate change!
Can someone tell me how the P.O. receives sooooooooo many stray, unmailable items and where does the money go?
Thanks for letting me VEVT!

Okay, I know I'm going to sound paranoid: Does the post office have the ability to xray packages, as airports do?

I question the wisdom of the prevalence of putting paper collectable in bubble type mailing envelopes.

I believe that for paper collectibles such as stamps and trading cards a more ordinary envelope with cardboard (or the like) to add stiffness is better protection than a bubble mailer (while also being lighter and cheaper).

I ship proirity only, and state this in my auction description. This thread is why. About 10% of all my first class shipping either ends up missing or destroyed. I have had a few winning bidders complain about the $4.00 ship rate. I tell them they can pay and use first class, but I do not guarentee they will get it.

I've mailed at least 5000 small packages of jewelry in my life, via insured or registered mail, values up to $25000. Never had one lost.
.
.On the other hand, I did have a CD that was mailed to me from PA. in a bubble mailer lost last month.

Pointy, I am having a bad time with lost packages that I mail. I receive everything mailed to me. I thought that maybe it was just the St. Louis area, but the other people that posted here are from other areas of the country. Don't move if you are in an area where what you send gets delivered. I am sick of filling out lost forms, plus one of my customers waited almost a month to let me know they had not received their brooch. The first I knew that the package was lost was when she sent me an email. The email she sent stated that she was going to post negative feedback, because I had not sent her jewelry to her. Until I filed the insurance claim with the Post Office she didn't believe that it had been mailed.

Last November 9th., I mailed a check for my Visa payment. The Visa people said they received it on December 5th. I was charged a $ 29.00 late fee and a finance charge. I can't afford USPS anymore. I'm beginning to pay more of my bills online to make sure the payment is received before the due date.
This is only one example. A lot of the priority packages I've sent have taken 2 to 3 weeks to get to their destination.
I mentioned to my mailman the other day that I was tired of getting mail for the next 2 houses. Naturally, he didn't see how that could possibly happen. I'll just keep all my neighbors mail and hand it to him. He'll probably accuse me of stealing the neighbor's mail.

Add me to the list of people having problems with first class mail these days. I received an email saying the buyer sent a payment on January 9 for an auction ending Jan 7. On January 17 I followed up confirming that payment had been sent on Jan 12. I again confirmed it on the 24th. After not receiving payment I followed up again on the 29th and filed a NPB, the buyer said he would put a stop payment on check #1 and send check #2 that afternoon. I recieved both checks on the same day February 3rd, with postmarks of January 9 and January 29.

During all of that I completed an overseas transaction within 2 weeks of auction close.

For the record, he lived in Wisconsin.

I just looked at both USPS auction sites and this just blows me away. I wonder who gets the money. Are all these bidders paying for the annual Christmas party or what! I can't believe that people are bidding on this stuff. Don't they read feedback? One site had 49 neg feedbacks out of 1360 and the other had 7 out of 588. Their start dates were July 2000 and Aug. 2000. Doesn't say much for their service does it. But I really want to know where the money goes. Anyone have a clue?
