Well then, as president, would you commission for a unique design for the White Hose knitting needles, or would you be satisfied with Mary Todd's?

i have no desire to be elected to any office in politics, definitely not the president, so it's irrelevant to me as an individual to think about what i'd do in the white house
pose those questions to Hilary she seems to plotting a new course to the white house through NY

HCQ, you are right, I did call Algore a liar, however, I also backed up my accusation with some actual facts and I believe that gives me the right to jump up on the soap box and do so. I've heard others here say that G.W. is guilty of similar offenses but they dont or wont give us any examples.
If you (generally speaking to all posters here) can talk the talk, then back it it up with something, otherwise your rhetoric is BS.

Since when does the regurgitated BS seen in the media, passed on by you here, constitute "some actual facts?" You didn't cite a source for any of what you atributed to Al Gore.
What is it with Republicans? You think if you repeat it often enough, it becomes fact?

Julesy, Most of the media has allways leaned towards the left with their political reports, however, my source is the Drudge reports at http://www.drudgereport.com and it was what a Tennessee newspaper had to say about Algore, the Chattanooga Free Press Editorial.

Oy, another regurgitated misnomer. If the above were true, then we wouldn't have had to watch Bill/Monica TV during the impeachment 24/7.
And the Drudgereport...sheesh, that is a really objective source, huh? Just an FYI, your anecdotes about Love Story and Love Canal are *both* incorrect and have been corrected in the media, though of course you left that little tidbit out.
You wanna know why I would never vote for Bush? Not because he is a boozing cokehead or a moron, but because of his record in Texas:
Women and Children
Ranked 50th worst in the nation in percentage of women without health
insurance, with 21.9 percent of Texas women without health insurance, according to a 1998 report. [Institute for Women's Policy Research, "The Status of Women in the States, 1998," www.iwpr.org]
In 1999, Texas ranked 48th worst in the nation in a study of the best places to raise children. The Children's Rights Council's study looked at child immunizations, death and birth rates, high school dropout rates and percentage of teen pregnancy. Under Bush, Texas steadily dropped from previous rankings of 29th in 1995 and 36th in 1997. ["Top Ten States to
Raise a Child Study", 1999, Children's Rights Council, www.vix.com/crc/bestStates.html#comp]
Texas ranked second to last in providing children with health insurance from 1995-1997; 1.4 million Texas children are uninsured. ["1999 Children in the States," Children's Defense Fund]
Education
In 1998, Bush admitted, "Higher education is not my priority." In 1998 Texas ranked 48th in the nation in the percentage of high school students who enrolled in and graduated from college. [San Antonio Express-News, 3/22/98; Fort Worth Star-telegram, 12/13/98]
Texas students ranked 45th lowest in average combined Scholastic Aptitude Test scores in 1998. [College Board, "SAT Averages by State for 1988 and 1995-1998," 9/1/98]
Hunger
Texas has the second highest percentage of hungry households in the country – almost 1 million Texans go hungry each day. In all, 12.9 percent of Texas households are considered "food insecure" – either hungry or
threatened with hunger.[San Antonio Express-News, 10/15/99; "Prevalence of Food Insecurity and Hunger, by State, 1996-98," USDA]
Health Insurance
Texas has been last from 1995-1998 in percentage of citizens with health insurance, with almost 25 percent of Texans uninsured. [Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 9/29/98; U.S. Census Bureau, "Health Insurance Coverage: 1998 – State Uninsured Rates," 1999, "Health Insurance Coverage: 1997 – State Uninsured Rates," 1998]
Texas was ranked 50th in the nation for women without health insurance in a 1998 study by the Institute for Women's Policy Research. There were 21.9 percent of women in Texas without health insurance, far higher than the national average of 13.8 percent. This means 1.7 million Texas women
don't have health insurance. [Institute for Women's Policy Research, "The Status of Women in the States, 1998," www.iwpr.org; Associated Press, 3/3/00]
Environment
Texas ranked worst in the nation for: confirmed carcinogens in the air, suspected carcinogens in the air, and cancer risk. [Environmental Defense Fund Scorecards, http://scorecard.org]
Texas has led the country in air pollution since 1995, according to data released in 1999. [EPA, "Toxic Release Inventory Report, 4/99]
741,009 tons (or 75 percent) of the air pollution in Texas was produced by companies which donated $500 or more to Bush and were "grandfathered" out of the Clean Air Act in Texas. [Texas Ethics Commission, Campaign Finance Reports, 1994-1998; "Dirty Air, Dirty Money," June 1998 report by Texans for Public Justice]

yellowstone,
Was Julesy's answers good enough for talking the talk? Would you prefer the dates he checked into rehab or the television interviews regarding his stance on women and his decision on whom he would choose for the justice seats?
Actually looking at Texas stats on pertinent issues is all I need. Maybe his medicare decisions or his inability to answer basic foreign policy questions.
hmmm... still say the worst of two evils is Bush. So Gore it is.

Actually, I am glad to see that Julesy has answers. All I wanted and what I gave was some dialog on/about the oposing candidates instead of mindless dribble. You on the other hand boysmommy3 seem to be riding julesy's coat-tails.

yellowstone,
Since I posted well before she did it is a little hard to ride her coattails. But she did take the time to state the facts and they are what they are. So riding her coattails looks pretty good right now
I think the issues as well as the candidates are interesting. Too bad there isn't a truly ethical person among either one.

Very interesting. On the National news here today there is a report out that the educational improvements that make up Bush's educational portion of his platform are not true. Reality is so far off from what he proclaims he accomplished in Texas that they are predicting this will negatively impact his campaign.
