Sorry, but I don't really see any paranoia here. Just some folks who disagree with you. And some who perhaps agree. But referring to the posts of those who disagree as "paranoid" doesn't encourage intelligent discussion of the issues. Nor does deleting your original post, and editing others when a thread doesn't travel the path you wished.

Frankly, I think we're closer on these issues than you realize.

"I'm not sure why those who charge a handling fee become so defensive - I am not talking about that. I am talking about honesty and full-disclosure."

As a seller I may choose one competitve angle over another. If I don't disclose my s/h on the listing some buyers may be more inclined to bid. On the other hand I could lose bidders too.

From my knowledge and experience though, many buyers don't want to be bogged down with the details of costs. They just want to be let known the total at the end.

Why do certain buyers think they are the only one's in this world or the world centers on them? If you want full disclusure, ask, but don't try to force yor opinion on others (not saying you really did, just that some people do).

Rather difficult to understand what the originator of the thread was hoping to discuss when the initial post is deleted.

I take it that it had something to do with disclosure of shipping/handling charges.

Here is my standard "boilerplate"

_____________________________________________

The "fine" print:

I like to ship all cookie cutters by USPS 1st class mail. This ensures that you will receive the cutters in a timely fashion and it allows me to quote an exact cost of $1.50 for sending you up to four cutters (within the U.S.). I self insure or will pay insurance for all items I ship. I will readily consider other arrangements provided you contact me prior to auction end.

If you win multiple auctions I will gladly combine shipping.

Payment in USA dollars cash, check, money order, International money order, or via PayPal. Payment is expected in 14 days USA and 18 days International (from end of auction).

I give you feedback when your payment is received. I would appreciate feedback from you as an indication that you have received the item in good condition and are satisfied with the transaction.

I would suggest that anyone interested in an organization that seeks to promote ethics in online auctions check out OAUA first instead of re-inventing the wheel.
