A sense of proportion is a "good thing."

I'm glad that someone invited vrane to this thread so we could hear the other side of the story.

It sounds to me as though EG simply would not let the matter drop with Vrane, although she'd already gotten a promise of a refund. What was the purpose of continuing to email Vrane after that?

And what was the purpose of starting this whole thread other than to make someone other than herself look bad and try to damage someone else's business?

You know, I thought it was against the CG's to post emails if the sender could readily be identified unless the sender gave prior permission. Seems to me that Vrane didn't give permission for those emails to be posted and EG certainly didn't make a secret of who sent them. Anyone have anything to say about that?

Also, IMO, the reason for the EG-bashing is people are getting sick and tired of not being able to express a differing opinion without getting nailed to the wall over it in threads that she starts. Also, when the tone of the initial post is frequently designed to make the other guy look bad, how can you continue to respect that person's opinion or attitude? I don't.

Sorry, katzname, looks like we made it to page 5 after all.

But I can still lose. It's only approaching 4:30 PM Eastern time and the evening crowd hasn't even gotten on yet...

I think you are all beging way to harsh on VRANE.

These guys are doing a great job, they are constantly under secret attack by Ebay, changing formats and such to keep them all hopping.

These guys are engineers, and I can understand thier reaction. The root of the problem IS an Ebay bug, and it's not reasonable to Badger them about it. And I certainly understand VRANES response.

Would you prefer that they triple thier prices so they can hire a PR guy to please the exccentric customer. I'm tierd of having to pay inflated prices for expansive PR operations who sole purpose is to deal with obtuse customer, unlike me.

VRANES services are web site are CLEARY no polished. It is an Engineers site, and should be used with that undestanding. PR people serve no usefull service except to consume money, and make you feel better about it.

Can you tell I'm an engineer?

Wager-wise....
I only bet on my mutual fund managers.

Sure we entrepreneurial types can be like territorial cats in a jungle (at least madison avenue thinks they should sell us as such) but let's face it, EG's popularity aside, Vrane.com may want to act like a big boy now that he has a lot of customers.

You can't just mark your turf. You have to have some prey: happy, cud-chewing, birthing lots of calves and colts prey.

RRRRRRoooooowwwwwwwRRRR!

Time to go cold call a couple of clients and eat like the Lions on the Serengeti!

Don't worry, Vrane's business will be fine. Anyone that reads this thread will weigh the value of his services against the dread threat of a rude email.

In my case, though I don't have enough volume to need his relist...if I did, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. All seem agreed he has wonderful tools for sale. I have an antiques shop. Vrane's version of rude is nothing compared to what the average retail matron is capable of. Trust me on that.

Just because a person is angry, doesn't give them the right to drag someone else through the mud. It's a cheap shot and the offender belongs in the penalty box.

BJGROLLE, *again*, perhaps you did not read my posts very well.

I emailed him initially asking for a credit for auctions that were relisted wrong, and asked why it happened to begin with.

He responded he would give me a refund. AND IN THAT EMAIL HE ASKED ME TO GIVE HIM THE ITEM NUMBERS.

I *RESPONDED* to his email and gave him the item numbers.

HE *RESPONDED* telling me to "do my homework next time".

So, to answer your question - "what was the purpose of emailing him after he promised a refund" - the purpose of emailing him was to ANSWER HIS QUESTION and give him the item numbers that he requested.

Had he just said "I'll credit you.. blah blah blah" and not ask me any questions WHICH I WOULD HAVE HAD TO ANSWER.... then I would not have had a reason to email him again!

I wonder if
1) He'd had the mistake with a huge account he'd have been so cavalier about dumping a customer.
2) I wonder if anyone besides EG came to AW with this thread would she/he been bashed so much?

Hmm... I'm pretty sure I know the answer to #2

While the provider seems to lack customer service skills and was unnecessarily antagonist, the customer was "contributorily negligent"

Wrong. I asked a question to the COMPANY to which I paid for a service. HE responded rudely telling me to do my homework, in which I was rude in return. I think you should go back and check the order of the emails.

(1)I asked a question, asked for refund
(2)Vrane responded he would credit me and asked for my item numbers
(3)I gave him item #'s. And in my 2nd email, I used the words HI,THANKS, and signed it with MY NAME (I was trying to be a little more polite in my 2nd email)
(3)He responded to me to "DO MY HOMEWORK"

That's another foul for unsportsmanlike conduct!

How many do we get in this game, 5?

computerboy: If you call that acceptable customer service for your paying customers, please provide us all a link to your auctions so we can avoid your auctions like the plague.

Hello Everyone,

I don't see any **reason to keep this thread open as it seems to have become very argumentative and unproductive. I'll be locking it up.

If I went to a store and was told by the manager that I was "obviously obvilious" and "everyone except YOU know about this" you can bet I would never be patronizing that business again.....

I don't care if there is one person working there or 100. Doesnt matter how much EG was paying them to use their service. A business needs to treat their customers with respect. Otherwise, they will not survive.
