Mark090: You must be another military person. They look similar to ones that tankers and mechanized infantry use; of course, the ones I'm used aren't completely leather on the outside.

They are snowmobile gloves. I have a pair just like them.

Toke, by now I think I've had everything frozen, at least once.

For shooting in -temps, I wore golf gloves under my mitts.

Yes I did, embarrassingly enough... On a windy day in Great Falls...it was about -25. I actually stabbed myself when I rubbed my nose! I'll bet that's more than anyone ever wanted to know...heh

Freezing nose hair?
Changing tires in -40 weather?

Gee, you folks had better move down here to Southern California. We wear T-shirts in December, we're mellow, Disneyland's an hour and a half away from me, and it's total paradise.

Uh....on second thought, you'd better stay home. You wouldn't like our criminally high gas & electric prices here!

Without eBay, I might have a real life...

Hi Toke. You still can feel the reins while you are wearing the gloves. Having the two fingers free is the key. Trust me when you are riding and the weather is in the 20s or 30s, anything you can do to help you stay warm is welcomed. I used to wear heated socks too. The real kicker was where to put the battery pack. I digress.

Hi llama lady...

LOL! I know what you mean...when I did occasional trail riding I wore gloves...AND I had some sheepskin booties to line my stirrups. Nothing worked, though. I was always cold...no matter what.

I did dressage in an (unheated) indoor ring, twice a week, all winter. Unfortunately, I needed all the feel I could get...couldn't wear gloves at all. I swear to god, if it was 20 outside, it was 5 inside. Pure misery...

reddeer...

No...hardly ever been to Kalispell. I sure did have some amazing times at the Augusta Rodeo, though. It's small, but hey. Small is better. We took over the entire town...

Ever play any poker in the back room of some of those small town Montana bars? My. Those were some fine times...

I need to get off of the East Coast...

Toke

Nope, never played poker, but did get tossed in the pokie, does that count?

Yes...it surely does. I avoided the pokie in Augusta, cause the sheriff (and everyone else) were in the street, too...

Besides, I was always the epitome of decorum
