This topic can be argued back and forth until the cows come home, and still, there would be disagreements. The statement below, however, tells the story:
...I've seen a few sellers who stated that they would end their auctions sometime in the last 5 minutes to prevent low life snipers from performing the dirty deed in the last minute/seconds of the auction.
Sellers (in general, of course) aren't stupid- if this were truly an effective strategy for increasing the final value of the auction (trying to force snipe bidders to bid early), then I have no doubt you would see a great many using it in their auctions.
So... How many auctions have you seen with those terms?

I like to think that someone wants my item enough to plan a devious attack at the very end and am quite let down when my auction ends snipeless.

When an item comes up that I am interested in I immediately bid the top amount I am willing to pay for an item. If I win, that is great - if not, oh well - it will show up again.
Of course, WATCH THIS ITEM is what really started the sniping, and brought many bids down by having potential bidders mark an item for watching instead of immediately bidding.
But then, that is just my opinion. BTW, I do not use sniping software - on the few instances I have sniped an item, I did it manually. WHAT A RUSH!

Hello All
I am the poor sole that started this thread, asked for input and boy did I get it.
I thank all for keeping your comments “above the belt” and stating your case as you see it. Unfortunately I saw nothing that changed my mind. I must either, not bid, become a fellow sniper or continue to bid within an uneven playing field. I see no other choices.
Moderator thank you and you can end this tread if you wish.
