What a great site to see. It looks like someone is going to have a very nice Holiday this year.

I wonder what the heck I did with my old beer can collection. I don't even remember.. I know I had several old cone top cans. I guess I should pay a visit to my folks basement....

I emailed the seller to ask about the can, here is her reply. You gave me permission to post it here.

Hi and thanks for your message -
I had no idea, just like you, about beer cans. I had no idea about ebay's
popularity either! I'm new to selling online and started selling due to my
divorce. Otherwise this can would still be stored in a box along with the
other things I found in the rafters. This was just a treasure waiting to be
uncovered and fortunately it will soon be in the hands of someone who
appreciates it fully thanks to ebay. And me and my kids will be able to
survive a little while longer! As far as its value, it has to do with the
graphics I have found out. There are other cans out there, just not in as
good shape as mine. I've been told that houses and buildings that were built
in the late 20's and 30's have a tendency to have treasures in their walls
due to contractors drinking on the job! Who would have thought if they fired
their contractor for drinking, 60-70 years later they would want to kiss
them for the treasures they left behind!
If you want more info, I can give you the email address of a person who is a
massive collector and a wealth of information.
Take care,
doosie

A friend once related a story to me about a beer can collection and a bachelor party he attended about 20 years ago. One of his friends was going to get married and they talked another friend into giving the bachelor party at his home. The host was single and had a beautiful home and a beautiful beer can collection proudly displayed on the small shelves all around the upper areas of the Family Room, safe from harm as the were up near the ceiling.

It least he thought they were safe from harm.
As the typical bachelor party progressed the attendees all got very drunk on the giant keg of beer that the host provided. Very drunk. At some point late into the night, it was decided that the groom-to-be was the nicest SOB that ever lived and that he deserved to be lofted onto the shoulders and arms of his commrades and carried throughtout the house in a victory parade similar to what a winning football coach may receive after a great win in a game. The parade was very sloppy as the parade members were very drunk and when it reached the Family Room the groom-to-be decided he wanted to get down to the floor where it was less dangerous for him. As the parade circled the room the groom-to-be flailed his arms wildly and down came all of the precious collectible beer cans which were trampled on by the staggering herd of party goers.
I'm sure that was the last time that guy ever aggreed to host a bachelor party.

Most folks who find old beer cans probably throw them away!

I see several flea market dealers selling beer cans that look to be in very poor condition. Now I know why. The older cans are almost impossible to find in good condition.

What's going to be neat is when all these bidders try to snipe at the same time and Ebay's servers explode.

I hope they don't mind us talking about this auction but the buyer at the present time is quite interesting. I was searching his feedback and he is a big time buyer, but also has sold some hefty cans. Nothing in the thousands but $600.00 a can and he auctioned two off. I am happy to see this happening and I am happy for the Mother that has the auction. This will be a nice Christmas for them but also help througout the next year.

Only 3 hours to go to watch the snipping.

All right! I've decided that since she lives in my region that I'm going "barn hopping" in every barn I can break into! LOL

The bidding is over $19,000 :')!

Maybe I'll just drink a few beers and keep the cans for 60 years! That would probably be more feasible...

Ah, if only!

I'm watching I wonder how many on ebay are?
How often does a item go this high, I know some of you check these things out.

I am happy for this seller but two days ago I wouldn't touch a can of beer, now...well I will even drink it, dumpster dive for it what ever it takes!!! LOL

edit to say "A hundred cans of beer on the wall a hundred cans of beer you take one down pass it around 20,000 dollars of beer on the wall"

I can not help but wonder how the payment will be sent.

Deal like this, I sure would want this by wire transfer or bank draft only.
Suitcase full of cash would be awesome also.

I know I will be watching it close - and apparently so are a lot of people - the hit counter is going up about 3 every second! I have never seen so many hits on anything. Last I checked over 22,000 hits!

Gosh, would all the people watching mess up the snipers? Slow reloads, etc.

Wouldn't that be awful?

The winning bidder was an early bidder under a different i.d. He just changed his username today. His previous i.d. indicated he was employed by one of the big three t.v. networks.

The buyer that won the auction has been bidding on this since the day it started. How can you change an ID on one day and have 35 feedbacks already? Just wondering.

Hair
I had checked his feedback earlier when I first learned of this auction. I was curious if her bidders were flakes and pranksters or serious bidders. When I saw the new bidder tonight with the shades, I checked the I.D. history and saw it was the same person who was an early bidder. His first username was his email address and it was unique enough that you wouldn't forget it.
