I have written before of my problem, I may have omitted important info. that would help you all in assisting me..but I will sum it up. My partner died, Pete (happyjewls) and I (imqb) were partners. We each sold from our homes and had 2 account set up, each having access to the others. What we sold was split 50/50. We also sold for other people. Which is the case here. When he died I went to his home and completed all his transactions leaving 4 very grateful e-bayers, who had already paid. One item sold was a vogue doll for 300.00 +. I found Clarisse's E-mail Address contacted her and informed her of his death. She assisted me in finding what doll was hers and I returned the check so she could change the name on it. I not only sent the check but the doll too. I noticed the end of the auction had been over 30 days and felt safe in sending the Doll as well. She kept in contact with me and informed me when both had arrived, she thanked me, wished me a Happy Thanksgiving and that the check was on the way. Now 2 months later, nothing, she won't even write back. For some reason I can not get into his ebay acct. I did before, I may have changed the password but I can't remember it. I changed his auction watch account into mine in order to finalize all transactions, but I can't do anything about hers. She sells on ebay and wouldn't be surprised if my doll doesn't show up soon. Feedback, etc. I can't do with out pass code. Even his hint pass word is not working. Ebay shows up in the auction watch acct. but I can't get into ebay. HELP..The doll was from a single male parent that was really counting on that money for x-mas for his 2 year old, Pete's half was to be for his memorial service. I ended using my own money for that as well as shipping sold items. I am at a loss...I had no obligation to complete any of the transactions, but I wanted to for Pete, to keep his good name (feedback). Please help me. I need to put this behind me, if it was my doll I would let it go, but I can't. It isn't right.

HAVE YOU TRIED CONTACTING EBAY WITH THIS STORY AND MAYBE THEY CAN HELP YOU OUT.

I DON'T THINK SHE CAN GET HER PHONE # STOPWHINING BECAUSE SHE CAN'T GET INTO THE ACCOUNT.

I WOULD CONTACT EBAY AND SEE IF THEY CAN HELP FIRST.

Assuming this is on the up and up...

Of course Pete's account is closed. Whatever he used to pay his eBay fees (like a credit card) has been cancelled.

In fact, I'm surprised you didn't think of this.

Oh, and still assuming this is on the up and up...

You are morally obligated to make good to the owner of the doll. It's your screwup that caused this loss.

I not only sent the check but the doll too.

Forevermore, why?

Here is the original thread. I checked at that time and the feedback left for the buyer was for a Vogue doll.

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&id=493251&thread=493240

If you shipped the doll you must have the buyer's name and address so you should be able to find her phone #. Try giving her a call and see what she says.

Or..... you could invite her here and we could hear her side of the story.

You say the person who owes you the money sells on Ebay.
Go in and put a bid on one of her items that would allow you to obtain her contact info.
Such as phone # or what ever else you can get.
Once you have the phone # you could run it through Google and get the name & address, if you don't get it through Ebay.

By doing this you should be able to get all the info you need to complete your dealings.

I'll say what everyone else seems afraid to.
.
.I say that this is a troll making this whole death thing up in response to some dispute with the doll buyer/seller. Shame on you. Talk about not right.

Aloha, I appreciate all of the wonderful suggestions, I didn't need the snide comment from fluffy, was totally uncalled for, I was asking for help, why would you bother to take the time to write at all. If you read more carefully before putting more salt into my wound you would have seen I had all info. changed. I am currently using auction watch as proof. The credit card is mine, so it would have no affect. "If I was on the up and up"....I do have better things to do besides write sad letters praying that someone out there would help me. I already thought of everything, contacted ebay but was told due to the holidays it will take time to get back to me. I have been told I could go through the post office, I did insure it and that it is fraud. Back to the comment of "didn't I think of that." on credit card, If you check "feedback left by happyjewls", you will see I left 3 or 4 and added my name..Connie

it is fraud

Yes, I think it is a fraud you're perpetrating on us.

Hopefully AW will either lock this thread or kick you off because you posted eBay contact info. What was the point of doing that, by the way?

I don't think Connie is a troll. I think she really wants some help with this and she is truly upset that the buyer got away with a free doll after she shipped in good faith.

Both Connie and the partner who she says passed away have good feedback.

If anyone works very closely with a trusted partner they probably do exchange passwords to ebay and to AW.

Report it to ebay. They won't do anything except perhaps close your partner's account so it will show NARU.

This may be an expensive lesson to not be so trusting in the future. Just remember that most people are good and what goes around comes around.

As I stated before check the feedback, contact the last few people feedback was left for. They will confirm what I have said. By the way, why the attack? I thought this was a place to find help? Yet here I am defending myself. Pete was a wonderful man, I wanted him remembered that way. He didn't have credit cards or bank accounts. This was his life.He called his work "urbarcheologist"
Mahalo to all of you that did offer some wonderful advice. Pete's sister lives on the mainland and was unable to make the arrangments for his services. I also have legal papers. This is from his sister.
Dear Connie,
It sounds as though you had a busy and kinda' tough weekend as I knew you
would. At the moment, I don't know how to express my/our gratitude for what
you are doing for us.
Cannot comprehend all that I am seeing quite this quickly but did read
quickly your EMail about the ordeal of cleaning out his apartment. We would need to
jump right on the arrangements; the "remains" ought to be in hand, at that
time, as the crematorium lady told me it ought to be accomplished within two
weeks and I am express mailing the documents thi smorning; faxed 'em Friday. (Power of Attorney)
he must've known he was going to die--poor fellow--i can only
hope he wasn't too lonely. it sounds as though you three had a really good
relationship and a good time together--you probably all DESERVED a really
good time! Now, I am crying againLet me know if you hear anything from Ultimate Cremation Services. I've completed all the paperwork for them and they said it ought to be done within
two weeks.

i am sorry i am harsh to you,my apology.
business is based on trust, and you trust the buyer to issue a new check so you sent the old check and the doll.
i have good experiences selling on the net,i have sent goods before receiving payment but not for 300 dollars.
you may just as well ruin her auction and go and bid on her items!!

OUCH, Where did this all come from? I started todays off with, "I wrote before" thay I may have not put in enough info. If you read the start of help dated today. If I did it incorrectly I didn't do it intentionally. I hurt enough over my loss, I just thought this might be a good place to talk to someone, to help me. My Minister suggested it. So that I can complete all transactions so I can close out the accts. and then start the healing process. This is just hanging over my head.

One last time "happy"jewls:

What was the point of posting eBay contact info for the customer?

Are we all supposed to gang up on her in email and shame her?

Or do you have another motive?

Connie, you don't have to apologize. If what you have told us is true, just tell yourself that you did the very best you could have, given the situation.

I still think you should try to call the buyer and explain to her that the doll was being sold for someone else who needs the money and payment was never received.

If you have been honest and done everything you were able to, at least you can look yourself in the mirror each day with a clear conscience. If the buyer has done something wrong maybe they won't be able to?

I don't know how many of us here would have someone that cares enough or knows enough to step in and take care of the rest of our dealings if something ever happened to one of us.

Take care.

I can still access some of the auctions. One goes back to Oct 01 2002.

It looks like the last three feedbacks were posted by Connie, just as she stated.
