I never get these good excuses. The best I ever had was a woman who sent me payment for a $19 auction win ... in three separate checks spaced over a month. She never did pay for shipping, but by then I figured I'd gotten enough entertainment out of her to cover parcel post.
And yikes, skateboard accessories??!! I thought videos and CDs were bad enough!

Well, no.
Oh, I see what your problem is. You've got me confused with someone else.

yep, I get teenage boys- the sweet nerdy knid, who like magic. And the D&D-ers. The three negs I've ever had toplace were all teenage boys. Some of the rest of them want me to be their mommy...
I was about tostart selling jewelry for my friend, but now I wonder....
Fluffy, you don't need me to tell you to stick to your guns!
Why cant this lady do a quick search on Yahoo or Google and find a catalog website that will sell her what she wants at a quantity she wants? or check the ebaystores? because she wants to get a baragain on an ebay auction?

Precisely, Dragonmom. There are lots of eBay sellers who would happily sell her the quantity she wants...up to $29.99 apiece.
I start auctions at 1 cent.
You do the math.
Savvy bargain shoppers in the real world understand that at true factory outlets or at going-out-of-business sales they will not be able to make special requests, or get every item in every size, or get more than one. You trade off some convenience and flexibility in exchange for a low price. That's actually part of what makes it fun: the thrill of the hunt. I love factory outlet shopping myself, the real kind where there's a shed next to the actual factory where they sell the rejects and overruns. You can keep those big fancy malls full of "factory outlet" stores. Ptui!
It's only on eBay, seemingly, that some people think they ought to have Neiman-Marcus service at Dollar Store prices. I don't rightly know how to disabuse them of that notion. Ideas?

It's the same in RL. I noticed that when I went to lower cost merchandise in my shop it drew the same kind of problem customer. It's the nature of the beast.
And yes, women are some of the very worst customers when it comes to dissatisfaction, making up creative excuses, getting picky, whining, getting rude and sarcastic, changing their minds and also for returning merchandise.

Hey, guys.
Remember the post that started this thread? A new customer forwarded this email to me this morning:
------
Below is a copy of an unwanted email sent to me. I have reported the sender for spam violations. You may wish to take your own action against them through Ebay. I am including full headers. Best of fortune to you.
Very truly yours,
<New Customer>
JUST A WARNING FROM A FELLOW EBAYER...THE "SS" JEWELRY I RECEIVED IS VERY LIGHTWEIGHT & INSCRIBED "ALL MEXICO",WHICH MEANS IT IS NOT SOLID STERLING, ONLY A CHEAP ALLOY. THERE ARE
SO MANY REPUTABLE SELLERS THAT SELL QUALITY STERLING THAT I AM MOVING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. BESIDES, <fluffythewondercat> BLOCKED MY BIDS ONCE CONFRONTED WITH HONESTY ISSUES.
------
I find this fascinating. Apparently the stress has gotten to her such that she is now reverting to all CAPS.
In case anyone is curious, the mark would have been "ATI 925" not "ALL", and Mexico is of course the country of origin. ATI is a huge manufacturer of sterling items.

posted on February 8, 2003 11:55:47 AM newI missed bidding because I can't sit here all damn day watching your auctions.
But she can sit there all damn day interfering with your auctions.
Many people confuse Mexico sterling with Alpaca silver from Mexico which is nickel silver with no actual silver content. Mexico does have some of the finest sterling silver jewelry worldwide.
As far as "lightweight", the jewelry varies with the price and the workmanship. If she wants heavyweight she will have to pay more, simple as that.
I wouldn't hesitate reporting her for auction interference.

Yeppers. It's a done deal.
I sent gracious thanks to the new customer who forwarded her email, complete with full headers. That's important: eBay won't do anything in these situations unless the offending email has headers attached.
