well one thing is for sure...I think I'll start right-clicking on photos before I place any more bids on anything! I personally want to see the item I'm bidding on and not somebody else's picture.

Glass - that's not the best indicator. I occasionally sell off some of the posters that I have collected over the years. All of them were professionally framed when I purchased them so getting a decent non glare pic is nearly impossible and I won't remove them from the frame until I recieve payment to protect their condition. When I decid to sell a piece I go to the artists website or other sites that show the piece (usually fan sites of the group the poster is from)to find the image. I however download the image and host it on my own space. If you right click on my image you'll see that I am hosting it but it is not my original image.

Now before you guys jump all over me, I clearly state in the bottom of the auction that the image shown is identical to the piece I am selling but not the exact piece because of glare issues when photographiing the actual piece. :P

When I had my own site I used to have ebayers use my images all the time. I had a stock graphic that I would replace the image being stolen with that explained that the seller was stealing my bandwidth so I was hijacking their auction and welcomed them to buy the item directly from my website at.....my site address. Picked up quite a few repeat customers that way and eventually word got out in the genre not to grab my images.

I had an entrepreneur start a high heel fetish site by linking to over 700 photos on one of my sites.

I wasn't even mad (for once). It was just plain funny. You don't find b*lls like that everyday. He had come up with all of these decriptions and backgrounds for his "exclusive models". He was charging $12.95 a month and updated weekly.

I found out about the site when an irate customer emailed me wanting his money back. He was pissed about paying for photos that were free on my site.

I changed the photos of things that I wasn't using to photos of: My cats' paws. Chicken feet. Pig feet. Horses hooves. I also put in images with my site name. The poor guy must have gotten it hard. 2 days later he posted on the front page of his site that he was offering a one month refund to everyone and that his site would be shut down until he could "do further upgrades".

I still check back every now and then to see if the site is up and running again....It isn't.

Hi Neon,
"getting a decent non glare pic is nearly impossible"
Try using a polarising filter on your camera. They are designed for cutting out glare. Here is a link to an ebay auction that shows good pics of how the glare is reduced. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3339&item=2911921621 I just thought it might help you with future pics.

Zircon - thanks for the advice. I have one somewhere : ) To be honest, when I started selling off my collection I discovered that it was easier to find the images elsewhere now for a number of reasons. Many times the images are from the artists original site or a gallery that carries/d them, they are definately going to do a better job of grabbing detail than I - my "product shots" have always been horrible. Add that to the elimination of the need to pay for film and developing (coming from a design & photo background I refuse to go digital until I can go high res digital - I have my eye on a nice 7K model right now - going to have to step up the ebay sales) and then scanning.
