I agree with the idea that since Ebay now owns Paypal, they will work toward weaning those who use "non auction" choice off of it, and may even go so far as to make Paypal an Ebay-only service.

Does anyone know what persentage of Paypal transactions are non-auction?

I've gleamed from other message boards that this may have something to do with the PNAC.

lindajean Everyone is getting worked up over nothing.

No lindajean, there's a faction that remains worked up all the time. They stay excited moving from one perceived crisis to another, it is there sad lot in life.

If anything I see eBay throwing the bank merchant account issuers a bone to keep them at bay, and a small bone at that. eBay will eliminate some high risk accounts and that's simply good business. PayPal will still be what it has been, a great tool for some and the spawn of Satan for others.

Fetish(Jackswebb), please reread your post and realize that is some of the most ignorant sh*t posted here in a long time.

If only I had "dollar" for each time "we need to go to another venue and that will show eBay..."

When you stop selling at eBay two more will take your place... been proven time and again... millions will not follow and that has been proven time after time...

Hey glad to see you're all better and don't have to post in all caps any longer.... does make the boards alot nicer.

I just click, NON AUCTION. Send the money.

Any thoughts?

I know you are pretty stupid at times Jack, but you asked for thoughts=input from others....

In the real world this is called input to a question you asked...

Yeah but PayPal is also stating if it is for non auctions also... wonder if that button will go away?

LOL, yep I parroted your question with a comment and question...

Gee you are so smart Jack...

Well, the big deal is that up until now eBay only controlled what one could sell on "eBay", now that they own PP they have decided to enforce the same PC "prohibited" list on all PP transactions, including items sold on personal web sites.

Nothing has changed???

SOME OF THESE AREA/ITEMS are so broad, they could be construed to mean anything - I am, not a happy camper.

We don't sell any questionable items on eBay but we do use niche auctions to sell items which are legal in many states but illegal in CA – but isn’t everything but aids & pornography was illegal in CA!

Folks who use our web sites seldom if ever chose to use PayPal, so that doesn't effect us at all as we have had a standard merchant account for our brick & mortar store and on line web sites for years -

BUT, most of the stuff on the list is ridiculous, and to widely stated, as many of the "restricted" areas can easily be misconstrued to mean who knows what, BUT - not surprising since PayPal was bought by eBay!

Some day, someone with enough money will open competition to eBay & PayPal OFF SHORE, and to heck with the rules of CA or the USA - I hope that someday comes soon.

I've got to go to a niche auction and remove any PayPal link from over 100 auctions.

The ONLY thing this accomplishes is giving some latitude to the whiners and losers who have nothing better to do than run around to the auction of their competition watching and, trying to find someone breaking the rules so they report them......(Also know as the flea market mentality)!

And so on to other messes....never a dull day – I don’t see it will effect our eBay business nor our niche auction business – just a temporary pain in the derrière!
