neglus-I don't usually sell postcards but I had a couple so I decided to sell them and when I went to the PO I asked about insurance and she said sure you can insure this. It was a flat 4 x 6 envelope. The postal clerk said many people send cards, I am assuming baseball, postcards etc. For eDC on 1st class mail it does have to be 3/4" thick. From what I can gather every PO is different in their rules and I can't figure out why and every time I go to a different post office the clerks know nothing about the eDC.
