I have what I thought was a sorority pin. I looked at a website that shows Greek characters and then looked at Ebay to compare my pin to ones listed. None of the sorority pins looked just like mine, but they looked like the same sorority letters, just a different style of pin. I got an email stating that it is NOT Gamma Phi Beta, but they don't say what it is then. Can you guys help? It is auction 3607414385, tooterville. I tried to do my research and I still screwed up! Thank you.

The person that used the 'Ask a Seller a Question' or however they contacted you may be in error. I've had that happen before. They can sound like they are positive about their viewpoint on the item and sound like they are an authority on the item but they can be very wrong.

Thanks, auctionace. I am going to let the auction run until I hear what sorority/fraternity it is really for.

tomwiii, If that Boston Terrier is Ralphie, he is really cute. I never liked Bostons until last summer. A lady that was having a garage sale had a litter of them. Ever since, I have looked at them differently. Also last summer, a big mutt and a little Boston Terrier strayed into my yard. I managed to corral them in our outdoor run. The owner was smart enough to have their tags on them. While I was waiting by the run for the guy to show up, the little Boston was exhausted and cold. He curled into a little ball on some weeds that had grown through the wire. He had had an adventure, but was way ready to go home with his owner.

The big symbol looks to me like the character for Phi. The symbol on the back of that is a "B" that I thought stood for Beta. At the end of the chain is a symbol that looks like an upside down "L" that I though stood for Gamma.

There's a picture of a Gamma Phi Beta badge here that looks awfully similar, but yours is missing the crescent. It might be a badge from a sorority that's now defunct, or it could be a "chapter pin" that indicates an officer from a particular chapter of an unidentified sorority, with the little "gamma" on the keeper indicating which office TK held. Since chapter pins are commissioned by individual chapters, a local lazy jeweler could have simply taken a blank Gamma Phi Beta badge, removed the crescent and used that as a chapter pin.

The person just emailed back that had told me it isn't Gamma Phi Beta. They aren't sure what it is, "possibly Phi Beta with a Gamma chapter guard." Okay! Sorry! The area community college I attended didn't have sororities.

kasue paste the link for the site with pictures so I can book mark it lol...I had someone chew me out once for selling a sorority piece...said it wasn't blah blah blah because they were grads and I sent them a link and showed them it was...It was just a very old piece that they hadn't seen before ...sold for 50+ dollars

My pleasure! It is nice to reciprocate here for a change. I had to add to my description for the pin since there were already two bidders. I hate that the addition is always way, way down the page. I am afraid people won't see it before they bid. I emailed the two people that had already bid and let them know they could cancel their bids if they wished.
