"Why do people refuse to accept second chance?"

Because no one wants to buy a product that doesn't meet Mr. Shiller's approval. If Mr.Schiller doesn't want teh item why should I ??

Second chance is the best shiller's tool ever instituted by Ebay. It helps shillers to max out every,(stupid),bidder.

SO LIBRA ,WHAT IS YOUR POINT??---

If you would have read it you would have gotten my point. If your going to offer a second change offer do it immediately...Don't wait. The buyer is still in the buying mood. Wait a day and they probably gave it a second thought...

Second chance offers are too confusing. You do not get to explain the reason..do you have multiples, is it because of a deadbeat...If it is because of a deadbeat bidder, you cannot offer the item until a reasonable amount of time has passed and in that case, most of the buyers have lost interest or found the item or a simialr one. I just relist it. In the few instances I have offered it, the second chance bidder even after accepting, said they forgot or said they misunderstood, etc. The whole process is too so long. I had to relist it anyway!! Too complicated and too much trouble. IMHO Meredith

Well, I sell quite a few craft books, and I often have more than one copy, so if it goes for a decent price, I offer the second copy immediatly, and a lot of people accept. Quite a few accept right away. I just find it hard to understand if someone has taken time to bid several times, that they don't want a chance to buy it, unless they are bidding on more than one auction of the same item.

books are different, they need the book for info and reference.
but silling stuff like limoge style kitty cat in a basket, hotei buddha imitation netsuke ,you can email them one second after auction close,it just made them angry, why dont you say so that you have more than one.
also some of these second chance emails are deleted as bidders think they are just spam emails

The problem is the "second chancee" never knows if you really have more copies or you are trying to give him Mr. Shiller's copy after he got stuck with the high bid.

If an item is listed at $25 and i bid $45 but was outbid at the last minute, why would I want to pay the $45?

I will wait for the person to relist and 9 out of 10 times I will get it for $30 or even $25 when they do since my competition for bidding is now out of the picture.

No one really knows for sure what will happen if the item gets relisted. It may possibly even go for more. The seller may wait 30 days to relist the item or not list the item on ebay but instead another site or a web store on the internet.

You're right though if you want to play just the odds. The seller will probably relist the item and it will go much less next time around if it does get listed.

We're talking saavy buyers now though. There are many unsaavy buyers out there. Ebay seems to be embarking on a campaign of educating the buyers. I saw a banner about proxy bids and the new ebay home pages seem to be about educating ebayers.

***Home Page Test***
Date: 08/21/03 Time: 07:45:59 AM PDT

Over the next two weeks, we will be testing simplified versions of the eBay Home Page. These versions will focus more on education, and on one version there will be no merchandising.

-------

Maybe it will be more difficult for sellers to use the 2nd Chance and Buy It Now offers in the future if the buyers get smarter ebay-wise?

i wish ebay will have more buy it now items, when i see an item i like and if i can afford it,i buy it.if i cannot afford it,i move on.
bidding and getting outbidded and bid again is just too much work.besides the thrill of bidding is gone for me.
