I enjoy reading all the buying and selling advice on this board. I would like to know more about how much Ebay business experience the advice givers have and also what they mostly sell. Here is mine. I sell antiques and collectibles with 4485 feedback's and a 99.9% positive rating. O.K. there is my Ebay experience what is yours?

Okay, Pandorasbox -- that was just funny! Seriously, I read it hearing a loud, booming voice and several areas were just laugh-out-loud funny.

My eBay experience just started in November 2002, so I'm a newbie here with just over 160 feedback points - but I'm still a virgin with nary a single neg yet. I've been attending and buying at auctions for more than 25 of my 38 years.

I've been online since 1996 when the Internet was young and currently work in Marketing/PR and Analyst Relations for a Fortune 200 company. I also have a mind like a steel trap, so all that I'm learning along the way is being stored in there for future use.

We'll be gearing up to launch more auctions in the coming weeks so the feedback number and experience will grow exponentially...

Been on since 1996 with combined account feedback around 4800. Feedback varies from perfect to 98% depending on the account and what I sell on that account.

These numbers include Half.com and Yahoo auction feedback. My Half feedback is easily the worst of the bunch- mostly from back before you could leave buyer feedback or respond to feedback.

Interesting...I, the Immense Imponderable, was also purchased at a Flea Market...Sorta like my poor relation Moses...But, as for Being Virginal and on eBay, the two concepts are antithetical....like monkeys and cats...Very Bad Mojo...

pandorasbox, in the 60's you would have made sense to me but now I would consider you a quack. We're all just like Ozzie Osbourne, but in different stages.

Been selling on Ebay since 1998. I have 2592 positive feedbacks and 1 neg using 3 different ID's. The neg was received my first month of selling.

Left a neg for a deadbeat, got one right back, and never ever did that again!

I sell vinyl records including 45's, lps and 78's, post cards and movie memorabilia. Each under it's own ID. 75% of what I have sold is from my own personal collection. Only the postcards are something I started picking up here and there for resale.

The reason my feedback is so low for that many years of selling is due to the fact I quit selling on Ebay back in 1999 when sales dropped to 75% and Ebay had over 1 million listings. Silly me! I thought everyone would see how much work it really is and quit and things would go back as they were.

In 2002 I realized how wrong I was and jumped back in there and learned to roll with the punches [ edited by lindajean on Aug 26, 2003 03:13 PM ]

Take all advice with a grain of salt.

Someone who has sold 1000 different items in numerous categories may have better advice than someone who has sold 6000 like items in the same category.

Each person here is an individual. Some deal with the real world, some don't. Life experience teaches the best advice. Some sellers with lots of negatives could possibly give better advice than someone with no negatives.

Everyone here could be telling you the truth. Everyone here could be telling you lies.

Most people are pretty cool. I am here to learn, and occasionally goof off.
Some folks are worth their weight in pixels. Others gold.

The best quote I have seen:
"I wish I could buy you for what you are worth and sell you for what you think you are worth."

I suppose the flavor of a comment helps weigh it's worth, but I have experimented with some great advice here, and it's been a great help.

I am a relative eBay newbie..started selling on eBay in 2002 and have feedback rating of 99.9% " 3887 positives. 3087 are from unique users 0 neutrals 3 negatives. 3 are from unique users. ". I sell under one id only and I only sell postcards.

Speaking of Ozzy Osbourne...here's one of my pc's currently listed (and no I am not trying to drum up business):

Considering that up to a couple of years ago, you could give anyone feedback for anything...

So depending on someone's feedback for "advice you can trust" would be like trusting Enron...

WOW, I see we are putting together an impressive list of people with a lot of experience on Ebay. I for one will make a personal list of these people and listen close to what they are saying. Some post are a little off the subject I asked about experience on Ebay only since most of the advice given on this board is about Ebay. I also saw a post about fakes (maybe over stating their experience) not a problem those people will soon expose themselves in their post.
Lindajean, thanks for your post about records. If you come back I need help with records. I know next to nothing about records but see older records almost daily when I am out buying. What should I look for in records that sell on Ebay. I will appreciate all the advice you are willing to give on records.

I have been selling on eBay for over 5 yrs. I sell china & collectibles. I am a honest dealer & never try to fuxx the bidder. IMHO there are a lot people out there who will screw you to the wall if you believe everything they tell you. Not my style, I know from past experience on the chat room that there some that are very reliable, i.e Auction ace, lindajean, kiara, tomwill, 12pole & linda??

Length of time selling on Ebay and feedback total has absolutely no bearing on the advise I seek out from the posters on this board unless it has to do with technical problems with ebay itself. As an example, we have a member on this board who specializes in cast iron products. If I stumble across a rare piece of Griswold, he's the first person I'm going to seek out. If I have a piece of high end electronic test equipment I'm having a problem with, there's a couple of other posters I will definitely lend an ear to even though I will weigh all advice given by others. It's not the numbers and the trophies people have won that impresses me, it's the expertise and sound advice I get from people who have experience with the problem at hand. By the way Peepa, who would you seek advise from and trust if you came across a casket at a flea market and wanted to turn it for a profit?
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Has anyone noticed how AUCTIONACE aka bidsbids has not posted his stats. Always a bunch of blah blah blah blah blah. Never any substance to anything he writes.

I have been a seller since August of 1999 and sell mostly collectables and sports items, but never worthless sports cards. I have four seller ID's, two on ebay and two on yahoo. I guess that would be two id's used on both sites. I have a 99.9% rating on ebay with 4987 pos and 3 negs. On yahoo I have a 398 pos with 4 negs.
