I think I'm looking at the right auctions. $5.00 to ship a bracelet First Class? He once said at $5.00 Priority Mail that I charge too much. Most of the time I sent First Class for under a $1 and right now I'm offering free First Class. From the stern tone in the auctions, I guessing that I'm looking at the right ones. I see a lot of auctions running with a lot of bids, but I don't see a lot of money from those bids. I would assume he takes a hit quite a lot. Still, I wish him success with his new website.

Cheryl- that's the beauty of Fluffy's game plan! She's one smart kitty! She "only" paid $18,000 to eBay because for every sale (even the $.01 ones) the cash register ca-chings $5.00 and eBay can't collect fees on that! I am sure she catches a lot of ca-ca for her inflated shipping fees but they are disclosed and not all that uncommon in the jewelry category. And as far as I can see, she is still listing as of last night.

or would you like to go to china and make 1 dollar a day??
is that what you want??
please do us a favor and emmigrate to china.

Fluffy's feedback is well below the required 98% to be a PowerSeller. The reason is the high s/h and 'no combining' policy. If you read the negative feedbacks you'll see several ones that say stuff like 'paid $4 s/h and item came in small bubble mailer with 74 cents postage'. Fluffy also charges $1 extra for third party insurance. That has to rile some buyers.
Fluffy's big competitor that does ten times her volume has a combining of buys policy and still makes out well on multiple buys.
Fluff's s/h is not that bad when compared to Bidz.com $7 per tiny item with no combining of wins.

There are a lot of sellers that charge the actual postage and those sellers have an adverse effect on the sellers that charge triple the actual s/h.
Fluff does have a hard time with the truth in regards to her turning down the PowerSeller icon. It may have been offered at one time to her by ebay but it sure could not have been offered in the last year.

I've only offered free shipping during the holidays. The most may be 85 cents on a package. I do this because places like Amazon are offering free shipping. It's actually helped me a bit. It is conditional, however. I won't give free shipping to someone buying 5 pounds worth of jewelry. I'd be shooting myself in the foot. I knew the auctions I looked at were fluffy's when I read the Me page.

I found fluffy - She uses eDC, there is no extra cost for priorty mail using eDC - $5.00 is very fair for shipping on this item, she does not combine shipping, but you can't have it both ways! It is a built in guarantee that there is some profit on an item that could sell for a penny. People can complain, but if it is stated up front, they have no ground to stand on. Ebay should remove negative feedback from stupid buyers who have the auction terms right up front, and leave a neg because they don't like it after you bid. After reading her terms of service, there is NO WAY you can have the impression that you can combine shipping, no way at at all...

What many bidders do is bid on the one cent auctions start bid and think that they will never win. When they win and multiple auctions and get a large invoice for maybe three one cent items they balk and squalk. ( 3 cents for the items and $11.85 for the s/h )
I seriously doubt that Fluff uses Priority Mail. A VERY large part of her profit is in making a few bucks on every auction with the shipping amounts.
Something that is going to hurt many sellers with a lot of negative feedbacks is the new ebay feedback system coming soon. It will be very similar to Yahoo Auctions system in that you can click on a link and only negative feedbacks will appear. Some sellers with 97% ratings and volume sales currently have it so it is very difficult to view the bad feedbacks without spending a lot of time scrolling through numerous feedbacks. The new system will make it a snap to see just the negative fedbbacks and seeing page after a page of nasty complaints may scare off many potential bidders.

In fluffy's defense, the shipping costs are stated up front and in more than one place. I'd hardly bawk at paying $5.00 shipping if I got a piece of Sterling Silver jewelry for $.01 or under $1. However, I would have expected more from him photo-wise.

Fluffy if you are reading this, post to your admirers/detractors!! If not, I offer a pink rose to your Vendio / Virtual casket laid here! :-0

(ps: why do some still think she is a man?
Didnt she post she was a lesbian at one time? Lesbians are women right????..lol Maybe that is more 'persona' creativity??)

I would be sooooooooooo disappointed if FTW really did ship priority! I can just see her licking all those stamps!! (remember the postage thread where she said she used real stamps as opposed to electronic postage?)

The seller I have been admiring ships first class and offers optional insurance. FTW is too smart to waste all that $ on actual shipping cost!!

EDITED TO ADD: AND SHE IS TOO SMART TO BE A MALE TOM-CAT!

What's the difference in starting an auction at 1 cent with shipping charge of $ 5.00 and starting an auction at 1 cent with a reserve of $4.00 and charging $1 for shipping?? In the reserve scenario, Ebay gets the reserve fee, eBay gets a higher FVF...the consumer gets the same product at the same cost. In the $5 shipping sceanario, the seller realizes more profit in the saved fees. EBay loses - seller wins - customer ties! As long as eBay allows it, WHY NOT??

No need to be vicious. She sells under more than one name so unless you've bought from all names. . . . The auctions I have looked at state $5.00 FIRST CLASS shipping. That's fine. She states it up front and if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to buy. I think you've blown all of this way out of proportion. She has provided a subject (.01 auctions) for us to discuss and that's exactly what we are doing. You don't have to read to participate if you don't want to.

I'd almost say that stopwhinning and Fluffy are the same person. A couple of months go this same exact thread about Fluffy's s/h terms was here at Vendio. Stopwhining said the same thing about buying something from Fluffy and it being sent Priority Mail. Stopwhining tried to derail the thread and you'd swear it was Fluffy.

CBlev65252 is correct. Fluffy states her terms up front and does mention the 'no combining' in several places. New buyers may no realize that much of her profits come from the padded s/h terms and the fact that multiple buys can not be sent without the padded s/h for each item all added together. Any seller having this setup is bound to get at least a 3% negative feedback rate.

And again Bidz.com charges $6 ot $7 per jewelry item with no combining and Fluffy's rates look much lower when compared to Bidz's.

One ironic thing about Fluffy's SS items is that many of the negative feedback posters call her stuff cheap merchandise and damaged when recieved. I think the feedback respondents try to get their licks in by doing this and the new ebay feedback setup is going to be murder on Fluffy if any bidder chooses to view just the negative feedbacks. Basic human nature will scare them away even though there are only 3 bad feedbacks out of every 100 given. That is one drawback of the new feedback system.

You are exactly right about the new feedback system. How many bidders (especially newbies) are going to bother to see that the negative feedback may have been a year ago or may have been retaliatory? It will be interesting to see, but could damage a lot of sellers.

It would really hurt Sellers who have been good at burying their feedback by buying a bunch of stuff from other sellers real fast.

Cheryl, she picked on you a few times but you came right back, too. I think she just may have wanted your attention or take you down a peg because you were giving so much good japanese advice. Cats are like that ya know... lol.

Add about the new FB:
Wouldn't ya think newbies, being new, will not be able to figure out the search the neg fb right away, will ebay make that part of the page easily recognizable? and even if so will they bother to do it? Its a double-edged sword, really. You can spot a bad seller right away; but then you got that whole unfair neg thing going on too.

my apology,i should not call people bla bla bla.
no,i am not fluffy, but i did buy an item from her because i want to see the piece.
in all fairness, the bidders are getting a fair deal, yes, with 5 dollars shipping.
i have been selling on ebay a lot longer than most of you and i would say that much-when you start your item at one penny ,you are bound to have bidders who want something for nothing.
she is carping on OTWA on how hard she works and how little she makes and she wished ebay will suspend her and put her out of this misery of selling on ebay.
it is time for her to revise her business model, just my personal opinion.

I think you may be right on with your assessment of fluffy's eBay business. There's not a chance in he** that I would start an auction at a penny. I've tried the 99 cent thing and got burned both times I tried it. Naturally, we'd all like to get something for nothing from time-to-time, but it seems to be reaching epidemic proportions on eBay these days.

neroter12

You also may be right. Where fluffy has the experience I don't with jewelry and glass items, I have it with oriental items. However, I'm not vain enough to think I don't have a long way to go to get where I want to be. I've put aside my learning for now. I'm far too busy between eBay and my personal life. It seems everyone wants me to sell their stuff for them. At first I thought it would be a great idea and now I'm hating it!
