Hey glassgrl
Do you live in the Big Bend area? We could be future neighbors. Ever heard of Steinhatchee. We just finish paying for a small piece of land on the mouth of the river at the Gulf. It's in the woods with a beautiful view and you would not believe how cheap it was? We will retire there and LIVE off ebay & the land someday? In Jax, Fl. rat race town now.

The reason I am interested if anyone is making a living on eBay is because today a republican on FOX claimed that Bush's dismal job losses is due to not counting all the millions of jobs that people have by selling on eBay.
.
.
.Well....Reamond.....if that's the case then I suggest that you vote against Bush in the coming election. IF that was said it's a ridiculous statement, true or not. Maybe if Bush is re-elected he can make Meg his Secretary of Commerce. Anyway, any reason to vote against Bush is fine with me. This is not a political arena, and if your agenda was anti-Bush you shouldn't have clouded it in your absolute non-refusal to accept that anyone is making a decent living on Ebay.

reamond,
so republican wants to count the number of jobs created by ebay??
we have a new Kroeger supermart just open 2 weeks ago and they just cut back the hours from 40 to 18 for many of the store clerks.
i guess those store clerks will have plenty of time to sell on ebay???

It is a challenge to be sure. We sell antiques and, given the demographics and the economy, if it was not for ebay, we would have gone the way of the do do bird. Ebay, just like any landlord gets paid a lot of our income. Between listing unsuccessfully and then getting their take of the final value, ebay, paypal and the auction manger are taking up a big chunk 15% - 20% of our sales. That is workable providing there is enough margin in what we sell. Buying from a wholesaler and then reselling it on ebay probably wont cut it.
The real question is how do we use ebay to support the development of our own web site sales? One good example is www.boatersworld.com who have a very obvious link betwen ebay and their own site.
