I am really sorry to hear of your loss. I know that there isn't anything that I can say at a time like this that will make any of the hurt go away. I have lost so many of my furry and scaled friends over the years, and each one hurts just as much as the last. In the end, I hope that we will get to see them again in their prime.

Ziggy is not gone forever. I fully believe that our beloved pets will be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.
Don't think about "what if's". You did all that you could.

I am so sorry about your Ziggy. We are dog people but it is the same. My husband and I still cry about the 13 year old dog we lost 9 years ago. We have an 8 year old dog now that we love to pieces but they all have such different personalities that you never can replace one you lose. What you can wish for is another animal you can love for its own unique qualities.
When I read your story my thought was that it the panic in the carrier may have been distress at what was happening with his breathing problems. If he had been in carriers before with no problem you should not blame yourself for doing what seemed best for him.
It is hard to accept that pets life span is so much shorter than ours. I tell my husband that it is the price we pay for the joy of having them in our lives.
Know that a lot of people understand and share your pain. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o

I am such a cat lover myself and I am in tears.
About 2 years ago I lost my most gentle and sweetest cat to Feline Leukemia. He had the shots but that was early in his life. His name was Spanky and weighed close to 20 lbs. He was part Siamese with the prettiest blue eyes. He was mainly white but had dark patches on him and one of the patches if you looked at it closely resembled a heart. He was 13 when he got sick and passed away. He was at my mother's farm at the time so I wasn't there when it happened.
I also lost a very cool cat named Mickey around the same time as Spanky to a passing vehicle right in front of our house. He was mine and my boyfriend's first cat together and that really affected us. He was our "baby". Now, we have 5 very spoiled kitties and love them all.
We went to a nearby dam yesterday and were walking down this cement path. We came across 3 adorable kittens about maybe 3 or 4 months old. We got close to them but they would not come up to us. If we could of coaxed them to us we probally would have taken them home. In a way I am glad they didn't because we don't need anymore kitties.
