I edited most of my listing one by one on TL yesterday, but when I checked today, none of them are changed on eBay. I edited each one and then clicked on "save". What have I done wrong?

Amber - you have to "Synch" to make the changes on the live listings. There is a "Synch" tab on the top tool bar.

Do all of the items you changed have flags on the left side? That means that there are revisions pending synchronization. If there aren't yellow flags, then I don't think your changes "Took".

Thank you so much neglus, I will get the hang of this eventually. I was ready to throw in the towel this morning when I found that 9 hours of editing yesterday hadn't changed my auctions. It's "synching" now. If I had known that, I would have done about 100 at a time yesterday. I will know for next time!

Don't worry Amber - I was where you are yesterday. I burned a LOT of midnight oil to figure it out. I did a step by step on making the revisions in your other thread. The trickiest thing I found is that you have to click on the "PAYMENT OPTIONS" box to take out checks and money orders even though the Payment Methods you see on TL says PP only. (This is for the ebay payment part of your listing).

neglus: I did the synch and it said it was completed, but when I go to my auctions on eBay, none are changed. I have no yellow check mark. All the listings on TL show the changes, but not on eBay. Is there a delay in the updating?

I don't know about a delay Amber. I also don't know what do when that happens. If you look at your items, does it show a revision on 9/26? Perhaps you should try another synch? Did you have the yellow flag showing pending revisions before you started the synch?

neglus: I tried to do the synch again and it says that they are all done and up-to-date. No, I have never had a yellow flag.

These are the instructions I followed on TL
"help"
Editing Listings
To edit a listing:
1. In the main view grid, click on the item you want to edit, and then right-click (or select Edit from the main menu) to view your edit options. You can also access the Edit Item window by clicking on the Edit button located in the main tool bar, or by double clicking on the item you want to edit.

2. Edit the information you want to change.

3. When you’re done, click Save.

They never mention synchonizing.I am wondering if I did it the wrong way.

I don't know. I wonder if the edits go away if you close TL without synching? Mine showed a yellow flag after I edited. Now I am thinking I'd better synch my 7800 items now instead of waiting for tonight.

You can try editing in bulk instead of one by one - 400 items won't take any more time than one item really (see my instructions in the other thread).

roadsmith: I couldn't do anything with the auctions I had edited. I contacte Turbo Lister live help and discovered that I did it wrong. It was my first time using it, and I was asked if I wanted to import my listings from eBay, so that is what I did and then edited them all. Now I found that they are actually copies, and there is no way to tranfer them. I should have synchanized first, edited, and then synchanrized again. So, I am back to square one, and I find I can't bulk edit the Instructions and Policies boxes, the edit buttons are blocked out. Lots more work to do! I should have asked on this board first.

amber - which are the policies and instructions boxes? Part of the description itself or ebay's part at the bottom?

You should be able to revise those - I did. There is a place at the bottom right of the form to revise return policy and payment instructions. I ran across some things being blocked too though (but knew from past experience that you can revise those things) - I just closed that "revise" application and opened another until I got them to be unblocked.

I am still synching with 2 hours to go! UGH. I can see some of my items have been revised and others have not been. I am not sure if it is missing a whole bunch or if it synchs in random order. I noticed that my shipping doesn't show right (additional items ship free) on the revised page so it looks like I am going to have to fix that. I have had trouble having my items combine properly the past two weeks in ebay checkout so maybe something is wrong. I thought I fixed this problem back in August but whatever I did now changed it back! UGH. This is very frustrating but better than manually revising 9000 items (have to keep telling myself that). The TL tool is just plain clunky! It acts like it is going to freeze up and just sits there and then finally kicks in. Every change is laborious. You'd think they could take some of those search geniuses and put them to work designing something better!

neglus: It is the addtional instructions, and the returns policy box. I can't even copy and paste my returns policy. I can't even find a "revise" option, just the edit at the top. I edited my first 4, and then did the synch and it went through. Would it not be better to edit in batches and then synch? This really is getting me down. I thought my long day yesterday was the end of it, and now I find I have done nothing. I really appreciate you trying to help me. I am disabled, and sitting at the computer for a long time is painful, so I am trying to do as little work as I need to.

Another problem. I was told by the stores help lady that with TL I would be able to edit auctions that had had sales. I sell a lot of yarn by the skein, so almost 100 of my listing are for multiples, and have had sales. TL is not letting me edit those. Is there any way to do it?

Amber - you're right - it's the edit button. Are you editing one by one or in batches? I remember having some boxes blocked but got them cleared up somehow. My 8000 item batch is still synching so I can't figure out how I did it. I think I selected a batch to edit (highlighted them) and then hit the edit button. TL prepared the group for editing and when that happened I was able to edit the boxes for return policy and special instructions etc,. I think it does work best in batches - as I said, I have 8000 still synching now.

It looks like the changes were made on just about every one. I did a title description search in my store for "money order" and just came up with 100 (not bad out of 9000) I didn't edit.(I didn't try to edit my REALLY old items because I need to clean them up - probably start from scratch).

Amber, apparently Turbo Lister has issues with putting text in the returns policy box. it's not just you.

neglus: I can't edit in batches because the description won't come up. I tried to at least edit the return policy and payment instructions, but they are blocked, I have tried every way, but they won't come up. I got really discouraged with it today. The arthritis in my back is so bad from working at the computer so long, and who knows when I will have time to list more items. I need to get this mess sorted out first. I made a bit of a start this evening. I am just going to do a bit each day. Maybe eBay will see that at least I am trying. If they close down the ones not edited, I will just have to relist them.

Amber - Folks were discussing this on the Stores board last night. Maybe this will work (not the download new version part since this is the first time you used TL):

sheilati (2312 ) View Listings | Report Sep-26-08 21:48 PDT 16 of 16
I finally got mine done. I just spent some time editing successfully in Turbolister.

What I did was download the latest Turbolister from Ebay. In setting it up the lost database I had been trying to recover appeared. That made me very happy and is definitely a bonus.

It appeared to not work because when I was trying to bulk edit, most of the fields were grayed out. However, I came to learn that only a few listings here and there cannot be edited. If you choose these in bulk, they will prevent most of the fields from being edited. The ones that cannot be edited are those listings that have quantities that have sold on them.

Choose several listings at a time. I did about 25 to 50 at a time once I figured out which listings were stoping the editing process.

This is one part of some of the instructions I received from Ebay. This is taking it from where you have downloaded your active listings into Turbolister already:

To revise active listings through Turbo Lister, follow these steps:

1. Click on "Listing Activity" on the left side of your Turbo Lister
screen.
2. Click on "Active Listings".
3. Click the Synchronize button at the top of the screen. Leave only the
"Active and Scheduled Listings" box checked. Then click the Synchronize
Now button.
4. Double-click on any of your items (Or highlight multiple items of the
same format and click on the "Edit" button). Make your changes. Then
click the Save button.
5. Click the Synchronize button at the top of the screen again.

Once I successfully edited my return policy, I read a little further and realized that we are also now required to specify a domestic handling time. I had to go back and bulk edit again. Lol. But now you know!

Now to tackle all these shipping changes!

Thanks so much neglus, I am going to try that. It sounds just like my situation because I have a lot of auctions with multiple amounts with some purchased. I have found that the only way to edit them is to close them and then relist. Hopefully, the rest will work with the instructions you have given me.

I was able to bulk edit OK but TL crashes every time I try to synch the changes to ebay. I'm using my kid's computer (it's better than mine) and he has Vista on it - wonder if that's the culprit?

pixia - does it crash or freeze?

You may try contacting TL live help. There is a button on top. I don't know about VISTA.

A windows message comes up that TL.exe has stopped running - clicking on the window (even to close it, closes TL. I look at Task Manager, on the performance graph, it still looks like it is trying to update record after record, yet it says "not responding"in the applications tab and I see no changes in my "live" eBay listings. I found a forum thread that said to turn off the debugging script tool in Vista, so I will try that..

I remember seeing the "TL not responding" in the upper left corner while it was working but I never got the message that the .exe closed.

Pixia, it is the Vista and TL combo. I have been trying for a week or more to sync TL and it keeps timing out. Errors with Program Not Responding after a few listings get synced.

Last night I tried it on my DHs desktop (XP) and it ran fine. went back to my laptop and shut down all open programs and any non-essential processes such as virus scanner, etc. TL still hangs. With Task Manager open, I can seet that it is using 100% of processor time. I started to post about it here earlier but thought I must be the only one seeing it. I rarely use TL so i thought it must be something on my system.

I tried syncing over night. It did get further along before timing out.

For comparison, XP synced 650 listings in about 25 minutes. Vista synced 165 before it timed out. It had been running for over an hour and only synced 48 before I went to bed.
