I was wondering when that would be noticed (what pattaylor said to twinsoft about the insulting). LOL!

Yes, enchanted. Lets roast something

I think AW wants to get rid of the forums all together. This is just the first step.

Here's a scary thought:

Unless the 86'ing of the Moderator's Corner was a spur of the moment decision, AW was originally planning to implement a new policy whereby links to specific auctions would be allowed, while eliminating the Moderator's Corner at the same time.

Can we discuss moderations in a general sense in the RT, so long as we don't provide information sufficient to identify the particular moderation under discussion, or discuss the moderatee and moderator specifically (unless we invite them to the thread, in which case it presumably would be OK)?

Best of luck with the new policy.

As I posted in the EO...I don't think management wanted links to auctions...not for a moment. I think they wised up to PR and let everyone vent...allowing us to think they were listening to us...enabling them to do what they wanted from the getgo...eliminate links to auctions altogether. Much neater and less potentially troublesome to them...no?

Does anyone seriously believe they wanted to allow us to post links to auctions???

Nah.

krs,

Sorry, I overlooked the insult to you. Although to be compared to the Moderation Team could be considered a compliment if you chose to take it that way.

In any case, point taken.

toke,

Sorry to contradict you, but in this case you're wrong.

I don't think they had a multi-step plan toke, you're far too generous in that attribution.

I believe they actually thought we could link to auctions without anyone ever discussing the seller or bidders on that auction. Simple huh? the entire thread could consist of the link and oooh, how pretty that antique widget is, not to mention discussion of the templates. End of thread. Dream on.

Oh well it's all changed now, no big deal.

Spaz,

"Unless the 86'ing of the Moderator's Corner was a spur of the moment decision, AW was originally planning to implement a new policy whereby links to specific auctions would be allowed, while eliminating the Moderator's Corner at the same time."

What's happening???

No moderation anymore?

The possibilities are awesome!

I'm new over here, looking at other forums now that policy reserves 'service' forums for technical questions only. Looks like the changes are company-wide.

I think I'm going shopping.

So, now that the Services forums are shut down for discussion, this is the last haven. Pretty well controlled, though.

Nearthesea: I'm going to be listening!!

As for this latest policy: I've been around a long time, and I've seen some damned dumb things. This plan moves to #1 on my list.

But then again, I've been around long enough to have this reaction: Whatever.

Apparently, it's becoming less controlled.

And less control is good!

Pattaylor said "what will not happen is turning the RT into a substitute for the MC". just to clarify- do you mean that posters should not "call for" a moderator's attention to a particular post or thread? or do you mean that we will not be allowed self-moderation by commenting on others' questionable posts? or both?

Pretty soon we will be back to just one forum for all discussions...then many will complain about all the "fluff" threads...then the moderators will be questioned incessantly in the one remaining forum about moderation questions...then the PTB will decide that moderation questions can only be made in a "special moderator's corner forum"...then the PTB will decide "fluff" threads should be moved to a "special, kick back and relax" forum...then the moderator's corner forum will once again be visited by an atomic bomb and the forums be reduced to one again...then many will complain

Do I sense a merry-go-round here?

What is the prize I get for this brass ring I just grabbed?
