In stark contrast, Chelsea Clinton graduates with honors in history today at Stanford, and is on her way to Oxford.

Brains, good genes, hard work, and able parenting can pay off.

Good to hear that. And if the good genes don't pay off like they have for Chelsea's uncle then they can hope for a Presidential pardon. The problem now is Roger Clinton doesn't have a brother to pardon him this time.

Congratulations Chelsea, and best wishes for your uncle on his legal problems.

Sleazy posting in an attempt to impart a suspicion of wrongdoing by either Clinton. A meager attempt.

[i]"....Cayce's written account of his meeting with Roger Clinton in a Dallas hotel was part of his EFFORT to seek immunity from prosecution",......

Goes to show that sometimes kids turn out Super in spite of or because of the obstacles thrown in their paths or in their genes.

Early on in her father's 2nd term, I thought she and her fellow students at Stanford could run the government better and set a better example than her parents were doing...

I remember mentioning out loud when her father took the oath of office for the 1st time that she was going to grow up to be a classy , elegant lady......though, at that time, few agreed with me.

Looks like she's well on her way...

I can only hope that mine does the same with her efforts at college. She now has someone to aspire to.

I know, she came from a parent with the wrong and worst political party background, but hopefully she has not inherited any of my genes or political thoughts.

Congratulations Chelsea Clinton. And inspiration to all who are trying right now.

Am I dreaming, or did I read on this board awhile back, that Chelsea had a brother? A bit off topic krs, but I just wondered if that was true.

Brains, Talent, Educated, and Class! I hope she runs for President someday.

Compare this to the boozing twins ...

Not to mention the Bush twins just got out of high school last year. I bet when the Gore girls got in trouble, all of you said, but they are just kids!

I would like to add that what happened with the Gore girls and the twins is really no ones business. I just don't understand how you let your hatred of George W. carry over to young girls who have nothing to do with the presidency. I forgot though, none of you ever did anything like this when you were growing up, and you are so much better than they are, right?

Actually, I think the prevailing sentiment about the Bush girls is that it's not really a big deal.

Anyway, as far as the Gore girls go, Al Gore isn't and wasn't the president so naturally his family is a little more obscure then Clinton's or Bush's. Tell me, how much do you know about the Cheney, Quayle or Mondale kids? Not much, right? No one cares. They aren't news.

There was plenty of press about what happened to the Gore girls. Here, because they are Democrats, obviously what they did was just fine. There is a double standard, and it is not fair.

"There was plenty of press about what happened to the Gore girls. Here, because they are Democrats, obviously what they did was just fine. There is a double standard, and it is not fair.

I think that that's bull, and I ask you to prove it, hcross, or desist.

The attitudes displayed by the post containing:

"I forgot though, none of you ever did anything like this when you were growing up, and you are so much better than they are, right?"

are apparently driving these distortions of truth.

You ask me to desist? I say stick it where the sun don't shine. I am sure, that you in all your infinite wisdom, could pull up many links on the web regarding the situation, if you were so inclined.

I must have imagined all of those news reports showing the street in Georgetown where it happened.

Krs: It can't be proven. JamesO nailed it on the head when he said whatever hijinks that involved kids of Veeps wasn't news. So true.

I cannot recall one scandal or dispute involving children of sitting vice presidents, and I've been in this biz 15 years, heh.

BTW, does Dan Quayle have any kids? The world hopes not.

I was asking for proof of the claim that there was a double standard here, not for proof of any act by any children of any public figure, at this time.

This is a thread to mark Chelsea's accomplishments, which I think are substantial. They do also contrast the criminal actions of the current president's daughters.

I want to add my congratulations to the others expressed here for Chelsea Clinton.

Hard enough to make it through college and early adulthood when you are anonymous to all but your closest friends and family.

That Chelsea has accomplished so much while under a veritable media microscope is, I think, remarkable.

Yes, codasaurus

Congratulations to Chelsea!

It takes a special tenacity and character to stay focused and excel throughout so much media attention.

Bill and Hillary Clinton must be so very proud because they have raised a fantastic daughter. Good genes, able parenting and hard work really does pay off.

I can't help but smile at the thought of a scenario and the resulting fallout that would occur if a politician was to congratulate a student saying, "Good genes, able parenting and hard work really does pay off."
