hEY GUYS
THERE IS NO FRAUD AT PAYPAL, IT'S ONLY THE TRANSPORT DEVICE. PEOPLE GET RIPPED OFF BY SENDING MONEY THROUGH THE MAIL. DO I SEE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT FRAUD AT THE USPS?

if you report fraud to USPS I believe they would at least react to it, all Paypal does is send you a email that says they can't help you, Paypal is not committing the fraud themselves but they sure are making it very, very easy for the scammers !! + by not helping you track the person they are actually protecting the scammers.Paypal refuses to give out any information on the scammer.

Never received item paid for thru PayPal- notified them of this and they could have debited seller's account- but instead refused to do anything about it!! Seller was later suspended by Ebay- if PayPal had acted on this instead of sticking their head in the sand, others would not have gotten ripped off after I did!

dukw353 is correct that PayPal is only a vehicle for sending money- but they could take a more agressive stance by debiting a seller's account if the item is not delivered in the case of someone obviously abusing the system- their user agreement could ssy that if they discover someone is using their service and not sending the items- they will be debited the proper amounts and their account closed- or a least suspend their account pending investigation. To TAHOEARTISAN- I have done a 150 deals on Ebay and only had a few sour apples- most have been surprisingly wonderful considering the number of unknown people your are dealing with- especially in light of people's perception of what the condition is of an item they are selling. I rarely bid on something that does not have a good picture in the auction. Also, very many negative or neutral feedbacks is also a "no bid". Haven't tried tradesafe.com- I know there is a fee associated with this- and if you get something that is not as described, I can imagine the hassle in trying to sort that out. Hope that helps.

I have been using Paypal for almost 6 months now for buying and selling with my Yahoo auctions and have so far (knock on wood) have not had any problems. I refuse to send payment to a bidder unless they verify their PP email address id that they use with them along with their last name. I make sure that my bidders who are using paypal to pay me do the same thing. I get the payment confirmation but I always check the account first. I NEVER ship anything until I see the payment posted to my account. I have had one refund so far and I handled it the same way the bidder paid me, through paypal. So far, so good. Anything I should be on the watch for?

Yes, it would be nice if PayPal could tap into the account of the eBay Seller(5,000+FB) who owes me a book and get a refund for me. And, while they're at it, they can get the $37.50 from the account of the Deadbeat Bidder who never paid for his item. After all, he was high bidder and owes me,legally ..see my point? It's a nice thought, but PayPal is only the means to get funds from one person to another. How can they decide who's telling the truth in such a situation like this...The buyer pays through PayPal, so they know that payment was made. A few weeks later the buyer complains that he never received his "widget" so the Seller must not have shipped it. Seller responds that he sent it as soon as payment was made and that he's not responsible once it's been shipped. Buyer yells, "Fraud"!!! Seller yells back, "Fraud"!!!. Then PayPay yells, "Hey! We just transfer funds from one account to another. Don't get us in the middle of it".
Simply put...it's not PayPals job.

The biggest problem with PayPal is they try to play up their association with the credit cards. However, they have now association with them, they are just the vehicle to transport payment and are using the credit cards like any store would. But because they try to paint themselves as being associated with the credit card companies, users think they can go through the same fraud process you would with your credit card. Ultimately Pay Pal makes you go throught your credit card company to resolve any fraud, so there really is no benefit in going with them

I have not seen anything from PayPal representing themselves as being associated with cc companies. You swipe your card in the store and the store is credited with the money RIGHT NOW. the same thing happens with Pay Pal. The Problems that I have read so far kind of looks like a case of fumble fingers, if happened to me when I did my first transaction- ensure that the seller ID is typed correctly. I just had a buyer tell me that he sent payment thru paypal and I did not recieve it. I emailed him back to see if he might be having a problem- sure enough he was. Help your buyers complete the transaction if will go a lot smoother. there will be the occassional deadbeat. Ebay will work with you to get your product or money I am not sure if the others do or not. Investigate and use the resourses that are there life will be a lot better

Pay Pal isn't interested in helping customer when they have been scammed. They tell you wait 30 days then file complaint. Meanwhile the guy that scammed me told me he has closed his Pay Pal account. Pay Pal doesn't care. I am going to close my account out with them! I don't want to deal with them as a buyer or seller any more!

Hi,

Was the seller verified or were you? We do have a buyer and seller protection program and you are allowed to do a charge back through your credit card company (but the decision is rendered through the credit card company).

I did turn my case over to the credit card company and they not only sent me a letter, but also called me and said there was nothing they could do about it due to the way your service is structured. They called and spoke to one of your reps and got no where! So it is not their call- it is your call! At the time this occurred I don't believe your "verified buyer/seller" deal was in effect- and why would I want to give YOU my bank account number?? (one of your conditions to be verified) I have filed a fraud claim with the Postal Service- I hope I have better luck with them then I have had with you!!

Hi oregon2,

If you forward the information to me at [email protected] I can have a representative from that department contact you. They will be able to give you more information than I can, but a charge back is the decision of th credit card company.

Hi oregon2,

Your account email address and the transaction in question would be highly beneficial.

Regards.
