If you sell with eBay, I would suggest using thier Billpoint program.

So far, I've been very pleased with PayPal and BidPay (the latter has been used by my inernational bidders)...both are FREE for sellers - a real "plus". PayPay, is, of course, free to both buyers and sellers. Good luck and welcome!

Paylpal is good IF you are dealing with a honest seller, BUT if you are dealing with a scammer that takes your $$ & never sends you the product then you are out of luck (& your money) I will NEVER deal with Paypal again because of it. I was scammed $268.00 & they told me there was nothing they could do !!

maneframe: the good news is that buyers can charge back their paypal payments. The bad news is that for every lousy seller there are dozens of lousy buyers (and this is not a personal attack, it's just a statement of fact). And it is too darn easy to make a charge back.
Paypal should make a decision on how to handle it but I guess they find it easier to just make no decisions at all, and that doesnt help anybody.

I recently discovered achex and though I havent used it yet, I have emailed them with questions and was pleased with the quick response and the content of that response.
Achex works on checking accounts, not credit cards. An electronic check is taken from the buyer's account and credited to the seller's account. There can be no charge backs. However, if the buyer says he never got the merchandise, they will freeze that payment and ask the seller to show proof of delivery. So fraud will be investigated. Achex also says that they will assume all responsibility for misuse of the account (someone else hacking into your account). So it seems that they are taking security seriously, which is more than I can say for Paypal.

Ooh ooh, yisgood, with all of the controversy with PayPal lately, by all means enlighten us some more!

I for one am a small time seller and even one chargeback from a buyer could really put a financial strain on my family income. I mean we're talking shoestring budget here...So I am nervous about PayPal, even though as a buyer I love it!

Good news about Paypal (finally)

I dont know why it took so long to come out, but there is finally good news about Paypal. Check this thread http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=228726

1) Paypal has reimbursed the people who were scammed by the seller who sold hard drives and never delivered
2) Paypal says they will reimburse anyone who is defrauded by sending or accepting payments from someone who is a VERIFIED paypal user. You can click on the person's account and see if they were verified. I suggested that this info come up automatically.
3) The biggest issue with charge backs is if you send the item to a different address than the CC. Paypal has now promised that you will be able to see the address when you receive payment (unless the buyer blocks it). For your protection, only send to that address and if blocked, do not accept the payment.

If you read that thread, a lot of sellers have been making suggestions and paypal has been listening. Ecount and Achex already promised to cover all fraud and since Achex works with a checking account, there can be no charge backs.
