i recently had the misfortune of buying from a seller on ebay that did nothing but harass me when i requested the money back because the item was not described accurately. i had sent him a kind email and in return received several (which i still have) emails of threats. i forwarded these emails to ebay safeharbor (what a joke!) and to his isp. he continued to look up what i was bidding on and "up" my bid and email me about it. i also found out that he has done this to another ebayer as well. i think it is a shame that safeharbor does nothing and that these sort of people are allowed to sell on ebay.

I know what you mean about safeharbor. I went to check my auctions on Monday, only to find that I was NARUD. They say I was shilling, and I actually WAS NOT. I have asked them for proof, no answer.
It is disturbing to me, because I have excellent ratings and really do try to keep my customers happy.
Here you are, with a real jerk to deal with, and they do nothing.

Shilling is purposely bidding on an item to drive the price up. Also, sniping is snatching the item right from under the bidder's nose! Both are so dirty.

i do not know about sniping. I hate it as a seller, of course because it keeps my auctions at a low price and also means I cannot do my end of auction preparation beforehand because my auctions often get sniped, BUT the real defense against sniping is truly to bid your highest price to start with. Then a sniper can't hurt you. The t4ruth is people are looking for bargains, always have, always will. I do not put sniping in the same bag as ahilling. Shilling is false bidding. Sniping is clever bidding.
