Hi,

Here's my story.

I bought a model horse from someone on eBay.
They had excellent feedback, so I wasn't worried about the deal.

The seller was uncommunicative and tried to charge me extra after she had accepted my PayPal. I said no way, you can't charge a fee to use PayPal. It was just $1.04US (I'm Canadian)

So anyway, she said on August 14 she would send the horse out to my friend, who I had bought it for.

I emailed her last night to see if she had sent the horse. She sent it POSTAGE DUE to my friend, never even bothering to tell me that she had. She had quoted me $5 for postage and 65 cents for insurance. Happily I have the insurance so at least the horse can be traced.

Last night I realized that the email based ID of the eBay seller did not match the email of the person I am communicating with. I realize now that it is either a minor or other immature person that is using their dads account. Most times where the ID was the seller or buyer, it was for industrial and electronic equipment.

I have asked around in the model horse community and this person has come back as a ROA and PITA. Is there any way I can get eBay to investigate or help? What should I do?

Thanks,
Christine

BTW, I forgot to mention that entering the email address of the person I am dealing with pulls up another ID with 0 (negative nor positive) FB.

Clarification would help.

Did the merchandise actually arrive, and the problem regards "postage due"? Or what?

No, it has not arrived yet. I bought the model for a friend and things are further compounded by that my friend may have moved at the beginning of the month due to an emergency. So I really have no way of knowing.

I was very upset at her for not telling me she had to send it postage due. I had told her specifically that it was going to Canada.

I have since found out that this person has an MO whereby you can buy insurance, but she will tick off the box on the insurance form to have the claim refund sent to her and not the buyer :\

I think I am SOL on this one.

Is the package overdue? It can take 2-3 weeks for an unconfusing package to reach Canucks from the USA. If yours has a postage problem and a recipient who has just moved, then all bets are off: the package may just sit in the PO until it's claimed, etc.

Seems too early to know if you're SOL...?

We need more detail, but selling under more than 1 ebay ID and having the insurance payable to the seller aren't wildly unusual.

Hi,

As it turned out, she is using her dad's eBay account.

I realize that it can take a while for stuff to arrive I was overly upset and angry yesterday...sigh...

I was overly angry at the fact that she had sent it postage due without telling me. This transaction has been one thing after another. She fails to understand why I am upset at her :\ I found her father's email address, so I can always try him.

Best,
Christine

OK...the dad of the seller emailed me last night, and miraculously, my horse came back to the seller "delivery unaccepted". I phoned the post office today and the clerk said that international postage dues are impossible - they have to be sent at least COD.

She is still a PITA. Why do parents even let their adult children use their account?

65 cents insurance??there is no insurance premium that low,50 dollars coverage for us shipment destination usa is now 1.10.
it sounds like seller is not satisfied with the sales proceeds and decide to ask the recipient to pay for shipping.
you can leave negative feedback or have the real owner of the user id mediate for you first.
what is the actual postage for that model horse?

hi!

well yesterday i had great luck and fell and fractured two fingers.

i asked the seller's dad to take the horse to the po and let me know how much it would bem and i would send the money to him and not his daughter.

i also told him to change his pw.

yes, i should have knowm that the postage was too low. i don't believe the seller when she said she didn't notice the foreign address. Cdn postal codes are different and there are no states that start with B.

i still don't know why she tried to send something postage due, if she really did. i don't think i have any reason to believe her anymore. i don't think she is capable of taking responsibility.

myself i should hae knowm that something was wrong, but i just didn't think about it.
