Hi there. I have received word from PayPal that my money will be freed up soon, but that I am now kicked off of PP because "the fraud risks are too great". Even though I did nothing that anyone else has not done and that is accept, in good faith, money from a fellow member of PP. I still think that PayPals attitude stinks. There is nothing against me that is proven, yet I am just too much of a risk to continue to be a member. I have about 10 customers that I got to join PP because of me. I am going to email each one of them and tell them to "take their money and run" away from PP.

My account will be closed and I will be receiving the balance of my money after about 60 days. They said it is to protect them from a "chargeback" on a credit card. I don't understand how there could be a chargeback on a fraudulent account.

Special thanks go out to Damon. At least he let me know what is going on. Everyone else at PayPal tried to keep me in the dark. Thanks Damon. Good luck everyone.

MarMac

MarMac2001,
So is PayPal going to deduct funds from you account? Why does it take 60 days for you to receive the balance?

MarMac,

Is there any chance of you letting Damon post why your account was flagged? He's offered to share that here but needs your permission.

I can also cover the reason why the account as flagged (sender and recipient) here if you would like. I would simply nee your permission to do so.

I've accepted PayPal payments since 1/20/2000 so I'm curious why your account was flagged and mine hasn't been. I'd appreciate if you'd give Damon permission to share that info in a post.

uaru,

If you are interested, MarMac2001 posted in the form listed below and tells whats going on and why his account was restricted. PayPal really has some problems in the customer relations area.

bburd51,

I am interested in why MarMac's account was flagged, restricted, and then told he wasn't welcome to use PayPal in the future. I've seen his posts, all of them. All he says is PayPal refuses to take any risks. Okay, fine, but he doesn't seem to be giving Damon permission to post those details.

Do you believe PayPal just closes accounts for no particular reason?

Aren't you curious why PayPal took those actions, or have you gotten all the info you want?

uaru,

It looks as if the account was flagged, restricted and closed for the following reason.
MarMac2001 stated, "I am going to be kicked off because a customer of mine gave some fraudulent information about his account. It has nothing to do with me except I accepted, in good faith, money from him. PayPal has the attitude that they should accept NO RISK at all and in punishing even those who are completely innocent of any wrong doing. If the buyer committed fraud against PayPal, then they should go after the person who committed the fraud and not someone who is innocent, like I am. I wrote them and told them that I had not accepted any credit card information, had no knowledge of credit card information and had only accepted a payment from a customer through PayPal."
I do believe PayPal restricts accounts for no particular reason and closes accounts when no other financial instite under the same cicumstances would even think of doing it.

I'll take that as an indication you don't want MarMac to give Damon permission to post the details.

I'm not surprised.

uaru,

Because I made the statement,

"I do believe PayPal restricts accounts for no particular reason and closes accounts when no other financial instite under the same cicumstances would even think of doing it."

does not neccessarily imply anything concerning another PayPal's customer privacy issues. Those privacy concerns are between MarMac2001 and PayPal, not me in any way.

this customer of yours-does he do business with many paypal members??
there are some folks who work in a ring, sending money to each other with fraudulent credit cards hoping all that shuffling could be difficult to track.
credit card issuers do have the right not to do business with certain parties -if a person has too many chargebacks, disputes, always late in payment, always report cards stolen or used by others without his permission.
a few years ago there were a few individuals who have their credit cards taken away from them becasue they call toll free to check their account too many times a day,too many like 30,40 up to 100 times.

Since there are some more questions about what happened with me in this thread, let me try to update you.

First of all, I don't mind if Damon lets everyone know of the reasons I have been kicked off of PayPal. In fact, I would like to know the details myself. Although Damon has been the most help to me, the details that I would like to have furnished to me are still rather vague. All I know is that I have not done anything wrong, but somehow I have been kicked off after almost 2 years of being a customer and referring a number of people to PP. I gave a pretty good summary of the reasons Damon gave ME in my original thread, but it still left me with a lot of unanswered questions.

I have a good number of customers who have payed for items to me through PayPal, but I've never had a chargeback or any problem before with any customer. Everything has been on the up and up on my part. I have never had PayPal notify me with any questions or problems before this. In fact, one of the things that makes me mad is that PayPal didn't notify me of anything about this until my PayPal debit card was denied when I tried to pay for a book at Books A Million. That's pretty crappy if you ask me! At least they ought to let someone know if there is a problem. The people at PayPal don't communicate with their customers at all. I have begged them in several emails to call me on the phone and talk to me about the situation and have NEVER had them contact me that way. I think if they are really investigating something, they would use any means necessary to contact you and ask questions to try to clear it up. NOTHING SO FAR!! Only Damon has contacted me and that is because I used this forum to air my problem.

I can assure any of you that want to know I am not involved in any kind of "ring" to try to defraud anyone. I'm just a working slob like most of you who is trying to make a few bucks selling merchandise on Ebay. I have used PayPal (and paid my share of fees too) to collect my payments and, up till now, been satisfied. But, I can tell you right now, I would not recommend PayPal to anyone. I have signed up with Ecounts at www.ecount.com and they seem to be working good. Hopefully, I'll do better with them.

After reading some of the posts here, I know that some of you would defend PayPal to the death in any problem that may happen to SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOU. However, I can tell you right now, if it happened to me, it could happen to you as well. Hopefully, it won't catch you off guard like it did me. Take care everyone.

MarMac, Thanks for giving Damon permission to disclose the reasons your account was flagged and why you aren't allowed to use PayPal. I take much I see on the message boards with a grain of salt, sometimes the messenger makes mistakes in their posts.

MarMac2001 9/29/2001 PayPal didn't notify me of anything about this until my PayPal debit card was denied when I tried to pay for a book at Books A Million.

MarMac2001 9/6/2001 I receive word 3 DAYS AGO that may account had been placed on restriction. How did I find out?? I tried to purchase lunch at a restaurant with some friends and my PayPal Mastercard was denied! Talk about embarrassing!!

Since you've given permission I hope Damon will now share the information he has on the reasons of the account restriction and closure when he returns Monday.

Hi,

Account A was receiving payments from multiple accounts opened by an individual operating out of a country we do not do business in. The party also opened up these accounts with incorrect information, which is an indicator of possible fraud. The accounts with incorrect information were passing payments to the account that was restricted.
