Alternatives to Paypal
Why trust your money with anyone except a real bank?
We are happy to report that there are some alternatives to Paypal. Any feedback from you regarding these services is appreciated. Please only send suggestions for alternatives that are backed by a REAL bank.

Probably the best alternative for anyone selling goods online is to go ahead and get a real MasterCard/Visa merchant account! It really isn't as hard as you might think. You can obtain merchant accounts for all types of businesses, including high risk and foreign merchants. Poor credit is usually not a problem. Application fees start at $150.00. For more information please contact Nancy Bennett at 818-999-2031 or e-mail her. Yes, I am plugging Nancy Bennett here. You may find similar service from another merchant account issuer, but I trust Nancy. She can also set you up so you can process credit cards over your wireless telephone (cell/PCS with web browser) through the CNS network.

AnyPay.com uses the each countries local processing system to complete EFT transactions between bank accounts. This is a completely different approach for these types of payment systems. It's sort of like an electronic check. Worldwide access.

Billpoint.com seems to work well if you only need to exchange money for Ebay transactions. It is backed by Wells Fargo, a FDIC insured bank.

c2it.com is probably the most similar payment service to Paypal. We have reports they do not work with accounts outside of the USA and fees are somewhat higher. Another report suggests they do not work with online businesses - only person to person. They are run by Citibank, a real FDIC insured bank. Here is a test: Quick, find the www.c2it.com telephone number. Ok, now find Paypal's.

United States Postal Service! The USPS provides an online service to send money online. They also have a service where payment is made after a Priority mail delivery is confirmed.

Western Union Bid Pay is an online money transfer service for online auctions. Western Union has been around for quite some time in the paper money world.

Overseas visitors...

I am also searching for an alternative electronic payment since deciding not to use Paypal anymore.

Yahoo's Paydirect I found a safe alternative until they started charging and asking alot of personal questions. I dont use them any more.

Billpoint has had too many recorded problems for me to trust them.

The same goes for C2it

My only choice so far is Bidpay. Although it is the safest and most reliable that I have found so far, they are also the most expensive.

So now I keep searching. IF anyone has a reliable alternative to these, please post here. I will be checking back. I really NEED to make a change.

having your own merchant account can be expensive,if all you do is to sell on various auction venues such as ebay, amzn and yahoo.
you dont want one which could fold tomorrow, and the established ones may want a 6 months or 3 months committment from you,a fixed monthly fee and a minimum discount fee.
also if you sell mostly in auctions where sellers come and go (or go and then come,as they can change their id or use their family member id),your high bidders may not want to give their cc data to any individual ,not to mention the extra work and security risk of delivering the data via phone, fax or email.
if you sell on ebay, why not use the checkout function provided by billpoint if you are not happy with paypal??

The reason I dont use Billpoint with Ebay is all of the complaints I have heard from individual buyers and sellers as well as hearing about them in discussion groups and newsletters I subscribe to. These have totally steered me away from using it

can always accept money order!!
if it is too much work for your customer, they may just turn deadbeat, unless you sell one dollars bill for 55 cents.then no trouble is too much trouble for them.good luck
