I leased a 911 Twin Turbo (advertised on eBay) from Bankers Auto Leasing/Advantage Porsche in June. Despite my persistance and attempts to handle issues amicably with the dealer, I remain dissatisfied with the extremely poor level of service, and misrepresentations, made by Bankers Auto Leasing. Because a complete description of the poor service that I received would be too long for this forum, I have distilled it down to the two most important issues - one which was resolved after much time and effort, and one which has not been resolved.

I initially found Bankers Auto Leasing via eBay and contacted a salesman regarding several Porsches that were currently up for auction. Despite extremely poor customer service (beyond the scope of this post), ultimately I zeroed in on a 2002 Turbo leased at a stated payment of $1,275 on the contract that I signed.

The first sign of real trouble (beyond poor customer service in the buying process) began upon delivery of the car. Despite the salesman's assertions that the car was "like new" and "immaculate", I found the opposite to be true upon delivery. First, two wheels were damaged - one by curbing another had a gash in it. The wheels were repairable by airbrushing at a reasonable cost of $150. Second, there were two very deep scratches (and one minor scratch) in the paint on the left quarter panel. Unfortunatley, the scratches could not be repaired by any means other than a repaint at approximately $860. Ultimately, after four weeks of wrangling, I finally managed to get Bankers to reimburse me for these costs.

In regards to this incident, what is particularly troubling is that, as an online seller, I believe that Bankers Auto Leasing has an obligation to communicate to the customer any defects in the vehicle. You cannot simply state that the car is "like new" and "immaculate" when in fact that is not true (as was evidenced by the shipping document that I received from the shipping company, clearly documenting the damage to the wheels, and the scratches, at the time that the car was picked up).

More trouble followed, when I received the first lease statement. As clearly stated on the contract that I signed, and as agreed to verbally by phone, the monthly payment was to be $1275. That detail was crucial to me deciding to buy the car from Bankers rather than your competitor's (Expo) virtually identical car. However, my lease statement indicates that the lease payment is $1300, not the $1275 that we agreed to. When I confronted the salesperson regarding the discrepancy, he replied "I must have made a mistake in computing the amount of tax on the monthly payment." This comment is completely unacceptable. In short, that comment says to, I made know I made a mistake, but you can't hold me accountable for it. In my view, Bankers should certainly be held accountable and make the deal right - for example, by reducing the capitalized cost on the agreement, or refunding me the difference, in order to honor our agreement" of $1275 per month. It can be done, although the dealership's profit would be reduced in order to keep its word. To this date, there has been no resolution on this matter.
