I am so bored with the same templates, I started looking at other sites like Auctiva. Vendio, you haven't added any new templates for a couple of years (or thereabouts). I'm still looking for a good one for books and for toys. And I'm listing tonight (a little late) a St Patricks item and notice you have most holidays but nothing for St Patricks Day. Could you maybe add some soon?

Hi there,

If you click into the Template Workshop you should be able to find a large array of pre-formatted templates, and you can also build your own totally customized template. Please let us know if you need any help with it.

Thanks,

Diana

Diana:

I am well aware of the templates in the template workshop - I use many many many different ones. I am bored with the selection and there have been no additions in a couple of years. People hve requested NUMEROUS times for some different ones to be added. I am in particular interested in a book one, similar to the one used at Andale. I do not have the time or talent to try and customize my own template. I pay you guys over a thousand dollars a year, and all I'm asking for is some new templates. And since you have not addressed this in around 2 years, I think that perhaps you might consider doing it.

Hear, hear! I too have asked for improvements in the templates--not only for some showing books in an attractive way, and toys, but a way to eliminate templates I don't use and never will, which seem to be stuck in the list like white on flour.

And the baby ones are awful, very kitschy, no class at all. Please, Vendio, pay attention to us on this.

Hey Roadsmith! Thanks for your agreement. You CAN delete the templates you don't want anymore. You go into the Custom Template section in your account, scroll down and you'll see them with a delete button. The only thing I've griped about in the past, is that you can only do ONE at a time. You delete one and it takes you back up to the top of the page, and you have to start all over again. I'd like Vendio to make it easier.

Toyspast: Yes, I can delete lots of those on my templates list. But NOT "vendio samples 1, 2 & 3," or those 6 dorky ones at the top of the list ("lemon grass," etc. If you have a trick for doing this, please do tell!

I've tried different ways to eliminate those but cannot.

I have been asking for new templates for several years also. A new template for books would be great. So many of the templates look like cartoons - new ones would be very welcome.

Add me to the bored list too.

I have tried the Auctiva templates for listing but although they have some really nice ones they are too 'item specific' and cannot be played with to change colours and graphics like Vendio can.
I guess I have been spoiled here with that but I still would like to see some with nice flower borders.
Our Graphics too are totally boring and cartoony!

Hi Diana,

I tried to build my own customized template, but it's hard to make something fully customized when I am not allowed to upload my own backgrounds--I believe I was unable to do so because only Vendio users with some sort of premium account are allowed to build their own. Am I mistaken? Please let me know if I am, and anyone can upload their own background image.

Thank you,
Amanda

Hello Amanda,

You have the option to upload your own background or accent graphic images, as needed.

You can do this while in the template workshop, by using the 'choose' option when selecting an image, then clicking the 'upload images' option from the list of categories.

Click here to see the page where you can upload these images from directly.

Christopher

Christopher: I think the person here was wishing she could upload her OWN images etc. If you're referring to the cartoonish images provided, there's not been one I could use in my templates.

I wonder if the Template Gods at Vendio think we all have "fun" kinds of things to sell and want "fun" or "cutesy" templates and images. Some of us sell things, like books, that we consider a bit dignified and don't want to use images that take away from our items.

Hello roadsmith,

I think the person here was wishing she could upload her OWN images etc.

This is exactly what I was referring to when I stated: You have the option to upload your own background or accent graphic images, as needed.

You can upload all of the "dignified" images you wish, that ideally won't take away from your items, and use them in conjunction with the Template Workshop.

Got a books image that you wish you could use in your template? Upload it! Use it!

You can do this while in the template workshop, by using the 'choose' option when selecting an image, then clicking the 'upload images' option from the list of categories.

Click here to see the page where you can upload these images from directly.

Wow. Thanks, Christopher! I didn't know about that option. Is it new, or have I been out in left field?

So. . . as long as I have an image stored somewhere, I can use it in one of your templates. Wonderful.

Hello,

This option has been available since the 'new' style templates came out a few years back. You can upload an image into that section directly from your hard drive, then use it as a background image, or an accent graphic (or pattern) as needed.

Once you get the hang of the workshop and start playing around with your own images, you'll see that you can more or less create any image you can think of.

Christopher

Christopher - has there been a change since this thread?
http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=15&thread=97446

At that time I thought you made an EXCEPTION so Roadsmith could upload a template under her plan.

Neglus,

Wow, you have a knack for finding some OLD threads.

Nothing has changed. You have access to this same system on your current plan.

Unfortunately, I don't see where you can upload an image/texture to the "Description Box" area, rather than the "Background" area (I see where I can upload an image or texture to the "Background" area), which does limit the possibilities a lot.

For example, I wanted to upload a linen texture (rather than simply using a color) that would appear in the "Description Box" area (i.e, behind my description text), but I don't believe we have the option to do this.

I did notice that in the "Regency Wallpaper" template by Vendio, there is a striped texture in the "Description" area, but I don't see where I can change this. Is it possible to insert my own texture instead of the striped one that's already in place?

Vendio, please let me know if this change is possible. I would love it if this option was available.

Thanks,
Amanda

Hello Amanda,

Click the 'Edit Main Background' link in the template workshop, then click the 'choose' link over on the left to choose which image/graphic background you want to use - including those found within the 'Custom Images' section where you can upload your own (or choose from those you have already uploaded in the past.)

Christopher

Amanda - It looks like the Regency Wallpaper has a striped "main background" with a frame and a border. You can get the same effect by uploading your image to "Main Background" and selecting coordinating frame and border. If you want, you can start the custom template workshop with the Regency Wallpaper Template selected and modify it by uploading your own background and changing colors, width etc of frame and border; you can even upload your own accent graphics to appear top left, top center or top right (and to same spots on the bottom too) rename it when you're done and it's your own.

Thank you so much for all the help. I'm very excited to be able to change the description portion of the template!
