Honestly, I don't understand some of the decisions you're making:

The click to return feature on the supersized images was a super feature, and the "back to previous page" line is white type in a blue background at the top of the picture and it took me a while to even find it.

Why would you do something that's LESS user friendly or user intuitive?

You've had the click to return feature forever; why did you have to change it?

Did I miss the announcement? If you didn't think anyone would care, did you think maybe to ask first?

Sheesh.

I know this is technically your site, but it's a landlord, tenant relationship, and your features might be more significant to us than you think.

I'm pretty darned unhappy about this. I noticed it I guess about a week ago, and figured it was a hiccup.

At least make the "return to previous page" links VERY visible (don't whisper such an important instruction), and put one at the bottom and the top.

If you didn't take it out because of an eBay requirement, please put it back.

And another thing, why did you give us this glaring screen to strain our eyes over. Its terrible. I used to enjoy the EO threads, but now I find it very hard on my peepers !

Not only the link back to the item description is very tiny but in white letters on a light blue background.

Also some of my auctions (e.g. 260184244358) have links on supersized picture page: Track this listing at Vendio >> When you click on the link you are redirected to Vendio registration page for new members.

This link appears only in two of my four Vendio accounts. Is it user selectable? How do I remove it from my listings?

When I view Supersize then click Return to Previous Page, I either lose the page totally (kicks me off of eBay and returns to Vendio).
Or, if it does return me to the auction I lose my back button link to return to other previous pages.

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestions on the site and the Image Hosting option. I will be happy to forward on all of your recommendations on the site.

jackmikol: To remove the track option Go to My Account -> Global Settings. At the bottom of the page you will find Insert "Track this auction" link on enlarged image page.

Skab: I can't mirror the error that you have described. Are you sure that it's just that the image is being opened up in another window outside of ebay and the listing that you are on?

Happy Thanksgiving,

Ed

Hello Ed,

Thank you for responding and I hope you had a delightful Thanksgiving.

My current auctions don't seem to do this, but 120182934499 (sold), 120184179808 and 120181379967 (both unsold) are examples of clicking the first photo to supersize and upon clicking Return to Previous Page kicks me off of eBay completely.

I cannot now replicate losing my back button links once I am returned to the previous page, as mentioned before, so not sure about that. But it's been a long day and I'll fool around with that tomorrow evening and get back to you if it happens again.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,
skab

Yeah, but we're not recommending a new feature ... we just want it back the way is was.

Or, just for kicks, could someone who decided this was a good change explain their reasoning?

Because from a user's perspective, it offers no advantage and in fact is LESS effective than it used to be.

The mind boggles.

skab: I went to 120181379967 and when I click on previous page I get a pop up box telling me that this page is trying to close my browser.

Just an FYI for you.

It is a mess.

And today must be some kind of holiday, because all day we have been waiting for a response.
One like the generic

Intermittent problem some may be having has been resolved.

That is the one usually posted before the issue is even identified.

Sorry I am not in a good mood .... wasted a whole day of work. I apology for my sarcasm.

Hello everyone,

We're having some trouble trying to replicate the problem with the 'return to previous page' link. When I go to listing #120181379967 and click the link on the enlarged image page, it does return me to the auction page (there does seem to be an anchoring issue, though, because the page jumps around a little before settling back on the image section). Can you tell us what browser/version and OS you are using?

Thanks,

Diana

Now he has the DEALIO toolbar too. It wasn't there last time. Pretty sneaky D.

Today, clicking on return to previous page works. When I posted originally it did not.

However, when I click on this item: 160186314153 (neglus' postcard) I do get the browser closing.

I am using IE7

Hi there,

I believe there is a bug related to the tabbed-interface browsers like IE7 and Firefox - we are able to see the problem with the browser window closing if your browser preferences are set a certain way. We are logging a bug and hope to have this corrected quickly. We do apologize for this inconvenience.

Thanks,

Diana

I just went to that item number, i got the bid with the pictures. I clicked on a picture then it enlarges to the Vendio dealio & a large picture. I used the Vendio return click then it went right back. I then clicked again on the picture and this time I used the computer's return. It went back to the Ebay page but only showed 2 inches of the ad vertically down the middle of the page.

I would think that most people use the return on their machines,

so buckle were in for a bumpy ride!

There was no problem at all before.
My auction visitors were not diverted to another page. THAT is the issue.

NOT whether it can be improved to get BACK to my auction page.
I do not want the Click to View feature on my auction

I'm using Firefox 2.0 and supersized pictures open in new tabs, while they were opening in the same window before. To make it worse, my Firefox is not switching to the new tab but keeps displaying original auction.

If I click again, it opens another tab that is hidden under already opened tab and original auction.

Unless you know about this issue, I guarantee, 90% of less computer able people will not find supersized pictures and when they do, they will not be able to return to original auction.

Fortunately 10 links to Vendio advertisements work just fine so my customers are redirected to Vendio peddling their services.

Actually this is very smart business model. We pay Vendio and eBay so Vendio can steal our customers.

And, please do not tell me to adjust tabs properties in Firefox. All other web sites open correctly and I have full control over my tabs.

Jack

here is what I get...notice that I am now on vendio.com.....NOT ebay. And if my customer is using the same browser I am, well there is no way for him/her to get back to me.

Christopher,
Could you make sure your Management, who came with these recent ingenuous ideas, also hears about it.

And why you are experimenting with this garbage during Christmas selling season?

OK, call me a broken record, but:

WHY
DON'T
YOU
JUST
PUT
IT
BACK
TO
THE
WAY
IT
WAS??????????????????????????????

What' the big deal? You didn't have this junk before, you don't have to have it now.

I, too, am now seeing myself diverted off of eBay and I'm getting that pop up screen and I'm getting a second browser opening.

If you guys want to find more ways to draw business over to Vendio, fine. That's what us folks in business DO ... we try to find ways to improve our business.

But let's see a show of hands of how many of us do it by TICKING OFF OUR CUSTOMERS and taking advantage of them.

This is a rotten site design feature, a rotten thing to do to us AND to our potential customers, and just plain rotten.

PUT
IT
BACK
THE
WAY
IT
WAS.

That old code's gotta be sitting around there somewhere.

Sheesh, people.

Hello,

We did roll back this change for the time being. All newly listed items will appear as they always have for users that do not use the click to supersize function.

Users that do use the click to supersize will also see it revert back to how it was, and we will be posting an announcement about this new feature in greater detail, after making a few minor functionality tweaks to it.

Existing auctions will not be changed, but future listing and relisting will appear as they had before (for users that do not supersize their images.)

Regards,
Nathan

Hard to imagine that the solution to major outrage on the part of your clients is just some "minor" tweaks ... but what do I know, eh?

Apparently, then, you are determined to foist this "improvement" upon us despite what we have to say.

I never get that business theory.

Please help Vendio! I just went to list auctions and I STILL have the border around my pics and the click to enlarge feature. I did not change anything and I do have have the downscale pics box checked on my global preferences. I have already cleared my cache and deleted my cookies, so please don't suggest that. Why am I still getting the click to enlarge with borders around my pics????? I thought you took that off. PLEASE HELP!

In regard to my post up above, I meant to say it says click to view image, not click to enlarge, is this not being taken away, as I do NOT want this feature. Thank you.

Hello Emma,

I checked your account and I am not seeing any new listings that were listed after we rolled back the change. All newly listed items will appear as they always have for users that do not use the click to supersize function. However, your listings that were already active will not be changed. If you are still having this problem for new listings, please let us know a listing number so that we can take a look.

Nathan

Diana, In regards to your earlier question: Windows XP, IE6 SP2.
Current auctions supersize is working fine now except 120188920281, which is a relist. Using the Return to Previous Page knocks me off eBay, but using my back arrow takes me back to the auction and photos look fine.
I remember having that half photo look previously using the back arrow...now I know why.
Thanks, everyone's observations/input is appreciated.
