OK, here's the problem ... I was looking at my "cc" copy of the end of auction e-mail that eBay sends to buyers. I usually don't look at them, but today I did.

I was STUNNED to see that the payment copy still has my old fax number on it ... a fax number that's been obsolete for 3 years.

I went through every eBay personal info area I could find, and none even require a fax number.

I went through all the Vendio "Payment info" boxes I could find, and they're all correct.

So I'm missing something somewhere.

Where is eBay getting the copy from that they send in these e-mails? It's something I composed, and I should have changed them all when we moved a couple years ago.

Do you know where eBay picks this up from? My hunch is it's from Vendio, but I can't find the one errant copy box.

Help!

Thanks,
Kathy

Hello Kathy,

This information in the eBay end of auction email would most likely be coming from your eBay account preferences. However, please let us know the old fax number and we will make sure it is not currently associated with your Vendio account.

Regards,
Nathan

Hi, Nathan -- thanks for replying.

Here is the copy as it is appearing in the e-mail that eBay sends to the winning bidder. It is definitely my language, but it's really old copy.

"The address for mailing payments will be provided in the after auction e-mail.

Credit card payments can be made by faxing us the credit card number, expiration date, full name on card, and shippingaddress to our private home fax: 847-298-2553.

We appreciate your business!"

I think it's the old copy that was in the eBay invoice box, but I'm not sure .... I've gone through every copy box on Vendio and can't find this one anywhere, and I've searched everywhere I can think of where eBay would let me provide some type of standard copy, and I can't find it there, either.

I'm stumped.

If you can't find it, I'll have to summon the energy to call eBay, I guess. I just don't see that going very well! LOL

Happy New Year,
Kathy

Hello Kathy,

It looks like you have already edited this information for future new listings. I checked an older active listing in your account (for an eBay Store item), and it currently includes this language in the "Seller's payment instructions" section (in the eBay section near the bottom of the listing under "Payment details" ).

This is set in your Vendio account by going to "My Account" --> "eBay" (below "Site Specifics" ) --> "Payment Instructions & Return Policy". The listing uses the information that is set at the time the listing is listed. Again, you have already made the change for future new listings.

For your active listings that still contain this information, you will to revise them directly through eBay.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan -- I just looked at several other e-mails and they're all right. So I guess it was some bizarre and random burp in the system ... but it had to be picked up from somewhere?

Very wierd.

Hello Kathy,

It looks like you made the change awhile ago. As far as I can tell it is only your Good 'Til Canceled eBay Store listings that currently contain the old fax number.

Regards,
Nathan

Boy, is my face red!

It took me a while to put 2 and 2 together to get 4, but as I looked through the end of auction e-mails, it finally occurred to me that all the ones with the old fax number were ones my husband launched.

He starts out with a saved auction and just revises it.

Sure enough, the payment instructions box in his template was never updated.

Duh!

Sorry to have wasted your time, Nathan!

:S
