I spent considerable time creating item specifics for 13 items which were listed in core today.

The items appear on ebay without any of the item specifics. What did I do wrong?

Of course, the item specifics I created were not saved in the item description. Apparently engineering did not think that it was important to save the specifics.

The items in question are: 300192525290, 300192525282, 300192525270, 300192525265, 300192525179, 300192525234, 300192525237, 300192525244, 300192525242, 300192525249,
300192525252, 300192525260, 300192525259

I revised two of the items and stopped. Please advise me as to the source of this problem.

Hello Bill,

What do you mean when you say they weren't saved in the item description part of the ad?

I checked a few of them and the system just doesn't see any custom item specifics on the originals that were sent to eBay, as though they had been saved without them prior to being submitted.

Obviously you wouldn't intentionally do that, so if you could outline your listing process a little so we can try and replicate this issue using your specific scenario that should help narrow down any flaws in the system or the process being used to post.

Christopher

Go to item. Open page 1, go to bottom, select 'ebay edit' link, page 2 opens.

Go to Item Specifics area - Choose 'Type' select 'Back of Book' then choose 'Add a custom detail' then insert Christmas Seals in 'label' area, then add collection in 'detail' area.

Then to bottom of page 2, 'Save' and Page 1 opens, then to bottom of page 1, then 'Save.'

Then send to ebay as 'fixed price'

I should add that this is the second time that item specifics turned up missing. I had tried the same sequence on items three days ago. I just did not have time to post a message.

Hello,

Im not sure what you mean when you say to go to page one and click an 'eBay edit' link to go to page two - are you clicking to create a new auction from scratch, picking a category, then moving on to the next page to enter the description/etc?

If so, on this page where you write your description and attach your images/etc, this is also where you enter the custom item specifics, just below the 'stock' item specifics.

Where is this link that your clicking on to 'eBay edit' that takes you to another page?

We need to try and recreate this error using your same steps, and my apologies for not quite getting your process as you explained it above.
Thanks for clarifying.

Christopher

I consider an item listing to be comprised of two pages. Page 1 contains all the information to create the listing, while page 2 contains all the information from which to create that listing on ebay.

On what I call page 1, I create the item description, select shipping, select if an item is to be listed on the Vendio store, etc.

Page 2 contains all the stuff for ebay.

I should add that all these listings were previously created, and already listed in my ebay and Vendio stores, and at core.

Remember I have large quantities of inventory. I just went into 'Sales Manager,' selected 'Inventory,' selected the 'item folder,' selected the item, followed the steps previously outlined, and then launched a new listing to core.

Hello,

For item 300192525259 I edited this in inventory, went to page 2 to see the CIS and they were blank. I then added the options you mentioned, scrolled to the bottom of the page and clicked to 'save' the changes.

This takes me back to page one, where I also click to save the item.

Now upon pulling this item up in inventory the CIS still appear to be saved.
-------------------

For item 300192525260 the exact same happened. Edited the item, no CIS in place, added them, saved the site specifics page, then clicked save on the item itself. Upon editing the item again the CIS appear to be saved and in place.

Does this pretty much sound like the same thing you were doing?

Im not sure what part of this process one could lose the saved changes, unless you don't click 'save' on page one after clicking save on page 2.

Christopher

Christopher, I did exactly what you did. I just launched 300192525260 to FP on ebay. The item specifics are missing.

The number is 300192774687.

Further, when I check the item in Sales Manager, the Item Specifics are no longer saved.

Hello Bill,

First, let me make sure I am understanding this correctly. You are editing an inventory item, adding the custom item specifics, and saving the inventory item. Then when you go back to the inventory item the custom item specifics are appearing in the inventory item. You launch the inventory item to eBay, but after it is launched the active listing does not contain the custom item specifics, and the inventory item also no longer contains the custom item specifics. Is that correct?

If so, it would be great if we could try to duplicate this problem on your account. We would need to launch one of your inventory items to eBay. If we can do this, please let us know the following:

1. The name of the inventory item.
2. The exact custom item specifics that need to be added to the inventory item.
3. For what time we can launch the item, and how it should be launched (i.e., is immediate launch okay? Should it be a fixed price listing with a quantity of 1?).
4. Also, please be sure that all other information is already correct in the inventory item (other than the custom item specifics).

Regards,
Nathan

Hello,

Im not exactly sure what you mean by this. You listed one item as FP to eBay, and its missing the CIS. Then you mention that the item number for this item is something else. Are these just two items submitted from the same inventory item?

I thought perhaps that the CIS was being lost when submitting to eBay directly from inventory, but haven't been able to replicate this when the CIS does show as being saved properly on the inventory item itself.

The only other possible gotcha to watch for would be the addition of SquareTrade logo's in your ads after they go live. They have been known to edit certain details on listings (though in the past it was just the ship to locations) and theres a small chance that the CIS is actually there when the items first go active, and are then edited later and removed by the addition of the ST logo. It's a long shot, but if you edit those items in Inventory and they still show their CIS setup and saved properly, that would be something else to watch out for.

Regards,
Christopher
