Hi, I have heard some rumors that ebay is going to force sellers to accept funds only through Paypal. Is this true? Can they do this? Is this legal? As I live in Europe and am being murdered by the weak dollar vs the euro I have given up Paypal and accept checks or money orders only. Being forced to use Paypal would be an additional financial burden for me. I currently lose $.47 on every dollar I receive from the states. Can't afford to give up any more. Would really like some input and advice from Vendio and other sellers re this. Thanks, Steve

Steve...it probably won't be long before that happens. Cash was the first thing to go. As for SELLERS...don't you love paying the ebay fees then also the paypal fees on top of it. If we have our next kid, I might send it to ebay for payment, throw in a used car and 3 kittens also.

Watch out for rumors right now .... this whole boycott and "sellers revolt" is stirring up a lot of hysteria that's quickly going from "probably" to "absolutely" each time a new thread is started.
If that's something eBay's considering, it will be held very close to the vest.
In my opinion (worth about 2 cents), it'll never happen. Unless eBay takes seller-to-buyer communication completely out of the picture, they wouldn't be able to do it.
I think, in spite of everything people are saying, eBay is too smart to do something that extreme.

Hello Steve,
Vendio has no additional information on the eBay changes other than what eBay has recently made public. I cannot comment on the potential legality of that hypothetical, as I am not a lawyer. eBay did not announce that all sellers will be forced to accept PayPal payments. For some time new sellers have had to offer PayPal as one of their payment methods. Also, eBay did announce changes to how PayPal payments are handled for transactions they deem suspicious.
