Hello Vendio folks,
I hope you'll bear with me, as this is pretty long, but I need to get it off my chest...
A couple of days ago I cancelled my $9.95 Image Hosting Plan. (BTW, never did receive a confirmation of that.) Slightly over 35MB+ went to the Recycle Bin. I've always had just around that amount of file storage ever since the Image Hosting Plans were introduced. I hardly ever deleted files, even when I knew it was clear I wouldn't be using them again, because I knew I simply would never reach the 55MB threshold.
I just signed up for the $4.95 (5MB) plan, keeping my fingers crossed that I wouldn't exceed 5MB. (BTW, haven't received a confirmation on that either.) I went to the Recycle Bin and restored all the recurring images I will continue to use, permanently emptied the other images, and still I end up with 6.88MB of file storage (108 files).
I remember complaining (back when the plans were introduced) that there was no middle ground between storage of 5MB ($4.95) and 55MB ($9.95), and that there was no way on God's green earth where I'd ever use close to 55MB. And after all the years that I was paying $9.95 I never have. The reply to that complaint was basically, "Look at it this way. You get 10x's the storage, but only pay 2x's the price."
The problem with that reasoning is that I'm paying a "full price" for something I don't, and can't possibly, ever use.
Another thing that sticks in my craw is that I can go MONTHS without even listing anything, and yet I still had to pay $9.95 each month. As a matter-of-fact, I haven't listed anything since the end of October, 2007 (which is soon to change).
Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining that Vendio charges for image hosting whether I use those images or not, but it certainly would sit a little better if I could have the option of a plan somewhere between 5MB and 55MB (25MB? Heck, half that would be fine.) and pay say $7.95 a month?
Surely I can't be the ONLY customer you have (or might have in the future) that needs more than 5MB of storage, but considerably less than 55MB?
Would it be so hard for Vendio to come up with an image hosting plan somewhere in the middle?
As it stands now, I may have to cancel the $4.95 plan I just signed up for because I can't decide which recurring images I need to delete in order to make room for new one-time auction item images.
