Would this "hack"work for uploading images to Vendio?

XP Web Photo Publishing Wizard - Hack for Vista
Microsoft claims to have discontinued the "Web Publishing Wizard" in Vista, but it turns out, they just renamed it. This wizard allows you to easily upload photos to photo gallery software on your web site. See later post.

Hello,

I am not sure whether or not this will work. You might want to give it a try, but be very careful changing the registry file (in other words, make sure that you trust the source where you found this information). I am skeptical that this will solve the problem, but if you decide to try it, please do let us know the results.

Regards,
Nathan

I'm not a computer whiz and can't figure out how to change the path in the registry. I can see that the Vendio uploader is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\PublishingWizard\PublishingWizard\Providers

and that Kodak, Fuji and other uploaders are in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\PublishingWizard\internetphotoprinting\downloadedProviders

I find a number of places on the web cite this as the fix and I wish Vendio would take a hard look at it and provide a Vista uploader for us. I'll try to find time to bake some cookies and see if my geek neighbor will edit the registry for me.

Hello,

Thank you very much! I am checking with our engineers to see if this is something that can be written into the executable file, or if the workaround will need to be done manually.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan, the registry key kept deleting after each upload. This fixed the problem: http://www.aeoth.net/blog/2008/03/19/exploiting-live-gallery-to-upload-to-custom-gallery/

I'm also going to post this to the EO board for users eho don't regularly read this forum.

Thanks, Nathan, I blame Microsoft for declaring that Web Publisher is not available in Vista. Now that Vendio knows Web Publisher is available and how to access it, I expect a speedy Vista Express Publisher from Vendio.

Christopher: I have the Sales Manager Pro icon on my computer but does that mean it's installed? How do I uninstall it so I can upload the 7.0.5 version of SMP?

The computer guru I'm married to is asleep, or I'd see if he could help me.

Hello Roadsmith,

Please note that XPress Publisher is different from SM Pro. If you are trying to install the XPress Publisher, so that you can upload images in bulk to Vendio, then you do not need to uninstall anything. Simply follow the link that Chris provided and install that program.

SM Pro is the offline Vendio software that is used to list items to eBay (with a similar function as our online website). If you can see the SM Pro icon on your computer, then it is probably already installed. If it is currently working correctly on your computer, then there is no reason to upgrade to 7.0.5. The new version is to correct a problem that some Vista users were having with SM Pro. There are no new features. If you are on Windows Vista, and the older version of SM Pro is not working correctly for you, then it can be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs on your computer.

Please let us know should you have any trouble with this.

Regards,
Nathan
