I know eBay has announced that only online payments can be accepted but I haven't seen any major announcement that it is official. I have noticed they have removed the option for money orders and checks at the eBay check-out. Does anybody know if its official now or is there a date that it becomes official? Also, will Vendio continue to give the options of mailing payment at their check-out or will that option be removed as well?

Hello,

While it is "official", eBay has also stated that they won't actually be enforcing this policy until January. Once eBay starts enforcing the policy, this will no longer be an option in Vendio checkout for eBay listings (although it will still be available for Vendio Store items).

Regards,
Nathan

Has anyone checked to see if what ebay is doing by no longer allowing payment through checks or money orders and forcing buyers to pay only through paypal is legal? If it is legal it certainly is immoral. I just don't understand why ebay is determined to make life so difficult for sellers this past year. It seems every new rule they come up with, like no more negative feedbacks from sellers allowed plus a few more rules I can't remember right now are all geared toward favoring the buyer and not the seller.
Is it just me or are other sellers getting fed up with thse new rules? Vendio, please hurry up and get the Amazon option in place ASAP. We need another venue to sell our merchandise from as ebay just doesn't seem to want our business anymore. Just look at their stock price and you will also find it hard to understand why they are trying to chase business away instead of actively going after new business. Steve

Steve, I think they did this same thing in Australia, but people in Australia took them to court on the issue and won, so they could not force Paypal only (or other online payment sources OWNED by eBay) down their throats. I thought for sure the same thing would happen here but so far, nothing. I agree, it is wrong to dictate what form of payment I'm willing to accept in MY business. eBay starting digging a hole, and when they figured out they might be doing the wrong thing, they just kept digging. Now they're bringing in big businesses which will have the Walmart-effect and close down a lot of small-time merchants.

Hi, thank you for your reply. As I live in France and sell ebay from France there is not too much I can do from here. But I would think that hopefully someone would get fed up enough to start a class action law suit. Especially when ebay forces us to use companies that they own.
Is there anyone out there with enough guts to try this? Come on you lawyers, someone of you has got to give this a go!

eBay learned from the lawsuit in Australia.
That is why we are so generously allowed to also accept credit cards through our own gateway.

Hi, I have never done anything like that. What is involved in having buyers pay direct to us via a credit card. How do we go about setting it up etc etc? Do we have to set it up for all cards ie: Visa-MC-Amex etc? Do we set it up through our own personal banks? I am a novice at this and would appreciate any advice.
It just ticks me off that they are forcing this situation. Otherwise I would just go with the flow. But I am hoping that someone will start something to fight them.
Ah, it was so nice when things were nice and easy. Why are they trying to make our lives so difficult? I have been with ebay over 9 years. have over 1700 positive feedbacks and am seriously thinking of trying another venue if there is one.
I just don't understand the reasoning behind their thinking, except for just trying to grab every dime they can. I honestly feel in the long run this will hurt them more than help them. More and more sellers like me will get fed up and look elsewhere. It is just a shame that they have had such a lock on the industry with virtually no other place to sell or merchandise.
