Help! Just upgraded my digital camera from a 2 year old Sony Mavica to a 4 megapixel Nikon Coolpix. Always before whenever I cropped digital images, once they were uploaded to Auction Watch, the cropped images would fill your template picture boxes completely or even be larger ... even though they were cropped. With my new camera this is not the case. Cropped images are not filling out the space ... they are significantly smaller than your image box and there's leftover white space. This makes it not only look bad, but it looks like I cropped to delete something damaged on my item. Can you take a look at what I'm putting up tonight and let me know if there is a new image setting I need to change to to fix this? Thanks!

Hello lennonhall,

We accept images exactly as they are saved on your hard drive. You might want to check the documentation included with your camera's image editing software, because it sounds like the cropping was not done correctly (considering there is white space around the picture.)

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with your software, but here is a link to an image sizing tutorial that *might* help:

Good luck!

Thanks Diana. Hard to believe that the image editing software on a rather pricey Nikon is less than perfect. Guess I'll have to re-read the section on Cropping - it sure did look idiot-proof. Click the crop button, draw the box, click the crop button again. Duh. Looks normal on the image reader in the software too. Only looks strange after uploading. I'll keep reading. Thank.

Diana - found it! Your answer REALLY did help. It is in the image editing software that came with the Nikon. Oddly, when you crop, it does default to leaving the whitespace - it does NOT default to transparent. You have to check a tiny little box that says "apply to all layers" on the cropping menu - hmmmm! Could they make that any more annoying?! Thanks for your fast response!

I'm glad you figured that out! I'll have to remember that one...

Thanks,

Diana
