when I list an ebay auction through AW (either website or launched through Sales Manager Pro), the payment options listed at the top of the pages aren't complete.

What am I talking about? Right underneath my ebay seller rating (top of the page), there is a section for "PAYMENT"

But, even though I have set up AW to accept Paypal, Bidpay, c2it, etc. the line only reads:

"Payment Money order/cashiers check, or COD (collect on delivery)."

That definitely scares away buyers...

If I revise my item inside ebay, they give me the following options that are not checked:

> Paypal
> Other online payment services
> See item description

All of which would be useful, and all of which are already set inside my AW global preferences -- however, they are not reflected in my ebay listings. Is there any way of making this happen? Thanks

Hello,

In the listing form, check the 'other' box to make the 'see item description' appear in your eBay listing.

From the My Account tab, click on the Global Preferences box, and check the other box next to the paypal section, to display the paypal logo at the top of the listing as well.

Of the three, those two are currently available to display when listing from AuctionWatch.

Regarding your statement:"check the other box next to the paypal section, to display the paypal logo at the top of the listing as well." I have that box checked and there isn't and never has been any such Paypal logo displayed at the top of any of MY auctions - only the ones I have Paypal insert automatically when a new listing comes on eBay, and those are both down at the very bottom. I would like very much for a Paypal logo (doesn't even have to be a link)be more prominently displayed at the TOP of my auctions - what am I missing???? NOTE: I do not want to use the "Paypal Check-out" link option that is now available since my shipping is always different depending on zip codes, etc and therefore need the varsatility of entering the shipping fees manually for each auction.

I'd like to see resolution to this, also. I've never seen the PayPal logo appear in my auctions, either, and I have that box checked. How 'bout it Christopher? What's the word on this?

Hello,

It has been available, you just have the wrong box checked in your Global Preferences.

Look for the one labeled 'Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in my listing.'
That is the one you need to check, not the one labeled 'Include only the PayPal logo in my listing.'

Unfortunately, checking this box will enable the eBay checkout button to appear at the top of the listing when the auction closes. This is the only way to get PayPal listed at the top of the page.

I don't want to enable my customers to use eBay's checkout, for heaven's sake...it was hard enough to get them to checkout thru AW before the recent improvements. I would just like, as would xleeng and biffette, a PayPal logo displayed prominently at the TOP of the listing for potential bidders who seemingly can't read...

Hi Shething,

Your only other option is to insert a PayPal logo by way of HTML at the top of your item description. However you may not like how this looks -- if by top of listing, you mean right above the actual listing data in the upper right area, then the only way to get it there is to check the other option like Christopher has mentioned. Since that is an eBay setting, there unfortunately is no way to bypass having the pay now button show upon close of auction.

Sonya

Right on "shething"!!! How difficult can that be??? I have many, many customers asking me if I take Paypal, even though the link is provided -- it's at the bottom of the auction and I'm told (and I believe it) that most people don't read dowen that far - so what good does it do? Although, you guys there at AW also can't figure out a way to make "United States" the default in the country choices drop down menu in the customer address info page nor have you been able to figure out how to alphabetize the states in the drop-down menu on the same page, so what else is new????

Hi Biffette,

We have explained in this post how to set it up where your customers will see it at the top, and be able to find your listings in searches. However you must keep in mind that enabling it inserts the PayNow button leading to eBay checkout, so if you don't use that, it might create some confusion when the listings end.

Regarding the United States problem -- is this the WBN you are referring to?

Sonya

Hello shething,

That is the misconception exactly. Using the other PayPal option via AuctionWatch is no different than using it at eBay directly. It does not enable the eBay checkout, but does enable the PayPal 'Pay Now' button. This is the exact same behavior you get when using the PayPal option at eBay directly.

I don't want a "Pay Now" PayPal button enabled on my listings, I just want the PayPal logo displayed at the TOP of the listing, not at the bottom. As it stands now, potential bidders do not see all the payment options I accept when scanning the top of the listing (the eBay section). PayPal is not displayed and I believe this affects sales. They must read all the way to the bottom of my listing (the AW section) for all the payment options accepted...they don't always do this. They email, asking if I accept PayPal...or they look elsewhere.

Hi Shething,

We have explained that you cannot get the PayPal wording in the red payment text unless you enable that second option. It is not a limitation set by us -- eBay has set it so that if you want to have PayPal listed there as an option, or if you want the logo at the top (where Billpoint's logo used to show), then you are going to have a PayNow button appearing when the listing closes. It is the same whether or not you choose that second PayPal option on AW, or if you go in and edit your auction to include PayPal in that text. If you did the latter, you would be asked to provide your PayPal email address and you will see what we are talking about when your listing closes.

There is nothing that we can do about this. If you use the AW Preferred Checkout, we recommend that you enable that for your listings.

Regards,

Sonya
