Hi. I just did the checkout for a customer so I got to see how it worked. Very 'class act' overall!!! The only problem was there was no payment option in the pulldown menu to indicate they were paying by check.

I have Personal Check enabled in my Global Options default settings, and I have Check enabled in my storefront defaults for electronic and conventional payment options.

The drop down menu for that auction purchase only offered Paypal, bidpay and money order, not Personal Check. If it had been the customer filling it out there would have been no way for her to choose her payment choice. How do I fix that for the next customers who want to indicate payment by Personal Check at checkout? Thanks!

Hello,

What is the ID number of the auction where this happened? As long as you have it selected at the time of auction it should appear. Did you recently enable the personal check option?

Hi Sonya. Thanks for writing back.
The item ID is 3212542810 and is available to run the checkout in my Control Panel closed auction list. I did have the check options enabled in both my global preferences and storefront payment options when I listed it.
When I was going thru the checkout and it didn't show up, I quit the checkout and went to both those places (where they were both still enabled) and unchecked and rechecked and resaved them just in case there was a problem with the original save. Then I went back to checkout and tried again--but it wasn't there the second time either. I chose "money order" to get through the sequence, or I couldn't have checked out.
I'm still a bit new at this. Is there a 3rd or other place for this type of setting I may have missed?

Hello,

I've checked the item and it looks like it listed without Personal Check as an option.
Are you listing from Pro? You might want to doublecheck your preferences there if you are -- make sure you have Personal Check selected.

You can double check your active auctions to make sure the option is present. Go to Active, select all your listings, then click on Set WBN. Then on an individual basis, use the Edit WBN icon to go to the edit screen for the WBN and make sure you have Personal Check selected.

Hi Sonya. Thanks for teaching me how to use the WBN edit. I thought it was only for the WBN letter contents, I didn't know everything was there specific to each auction.

I have reviewed every active auction and they all have personal check enabled. I have reviewed my SmPro preferences, my online Global Preferences, and my Store policies defaults and they all have personal check enabled also. I have not made any changes to the types of payment since before the closed item number I gave you, that's why I wrote and asked why it wasn't in the list the customer would have seen. I can't see a way to access the WBN settings for a closed auction. If you did that, was it missing in the WBN defaults when you looked, or did you just go through checkout and see it wasn't in the list like I did?

You said to go check SmPro. I usually change major defaults online. Do those preference changes not download into SmPro at the next Sync? Does SmPro always have to be treated independently for every change (not complaining, just asking)?

Thanks!

Hello,

Items will relist with what they originally were launched with, so I started a relist for that item to see what was on it when it launched. That is how I noticed Personal Check was not there.

With SMPro, it is best to synchronize and restart the program anytime you make changes online, to make sure that they are equal on both ends. Unfortunately since I cannot see the program it is hard to tell where the error really did occur, but it looks like a transient error since your other active listings all have Personal Check enabled. Let me know if those close without Check as an option.

Thanks Sonya!!!! You've just taught me another way to check it for myself--love it! I'm really new to the auction side of AW (only about 3 weeks) so as I discover all the "findit and edit and fixit" places in the program I'll be asking less and less--haven't had to ask you all anything about my store for months . Thanks for your patience toward a newcomer. As soon as I have confidence the system is reliably working for my customers, and that I can reliably work the system and correct my own mistakes, the temporary flurry of questions will quit.
Only one last one on this: if a few relist wrong again, will the select active/edit WBN changes fix those the same way it fixes the current ones, or is there something in the relist ebay process that prevents that?
Thanks again.

Hello,

If you have some auctions list that have the wrong settings for payment, etc. you can fix it using the method I showed you for editing WBNs for active auctions. Just make sure you save what you edit so that it applies to the closed auctions. The Edit WBN feature lets you edit anything that would go out in the WBN to your winners.

Regards,

Sonya
