I brought this up before but don't think I ever got a reply that made any sense.

Nearly every day I schedule items to relist from the UNSOLD listing...(buy clicking on POST SALE then UNSOLD ITEMS.

From the UNSOLD page you can select an item and then do one of two things: ARCHIVE or RELIST.

When I no longer wish to try to sell an item, for whatever reason, I will ARCHIVE (delete) it. That's fine..I no longer want it in the UNSOLD section.

When I want to relist an unsold item, I click relist, then either relist it immediately or scheule it for a later launch.

Once the item has been either relisted or scheduled to relist, why doesn't it automatically move to either the PENDING or ACTIVE section and no longer be listed as UNSOLD? Instead, after listing or relisting, I have to go back, click on the item AGAIN, then ARCHIVE it to move it out of unsold. Wouldn't it make more sense to have this happen automatically?? Why would you want to leave an item in UNSOLD if you have listed or relisted it???

Hello,

I cannot explain to you why it was designed to act a certain way, but I can tell you how you can expect it to behave.

When you relist an item, and by that I mean a true relist (see below), the item you chose to relist will leave your closed section (the unsold items section is the same thing as the closed, just with sold items filtered out) once the new item is active. This means the original will remain in the closed/unsold section even while the relist is scheduled.

When you relist an item as a copy, the item you used to relist it will remain in the closed section, even when the relisted item (or copy of a closed listing) goes active.

Relist Auction: You can relist an auction that did not previously sell. Many auction venues will allow you to relist an item once without charging listing fees.

Relist (non-refundable) Auction: You can relist an auction that did not previously sell, even if it was itself a relist. This behaves like a relist, deleting the item that didn't sell from the your closed panel, but the auction venue most likely will charge for it.

Relaunch (Copy) Auction: You can relaunch a new auction by copying information from a previous auction that either sold or is very old and was deleted from the venue. Most auction venues will charge listing fees for relaunched auctions. The auction you are relaunching will be kept in the closed panel.

If you do any of the above actions on an item that was originally launched from inventory, it will be tracked in your inventory and various quantities there will be updated.

Yes, I understand the way it does work - but can ANYONE tell me why you would want to have an item stay in your closed/unsold database when it is up again for sale??? I think this is a serious programming flaw. The UNSOLD database is a great source for relisting items that have not sold. It's so simple to just click on as many items as you want to relist and with one more click, relist them. But since the item then STAYS in the unsold database until you manually archive it, it makes for an adminstrative hassle. You no longer know if it is still availalbe to relist or if it has already been launched or scheuduled.

I agree, when you relist from closed the item should be taken out of the category automatically.

Hello,

I will log your suggestions for Product Development, concerning the behavior of original auctions that get relisted.

Having it remain in the unsold/closed category allows there to be a distinction kept between the original auction and the relist. It's an irritant if relists are always submitted identically, but easier for my own record keeping when I change things like the title, price or other major details for the relist.
