The change in the method of choosing a category is what everyone is upset about, including me. And it does not apply ONLY to "create listing"
Changing the category of an inventory item prior to listing it as an auction now requires more than 6 clicks & subsequent page loading. I need to click on the item (1st click) then click on ebay specifics (2nd click) then click on "edit category" (3rd click) Choose my category then click continue (4th click) thn click save (5th click)then click save again (6th click). AND each click requires page loading time.
That's two more clicks than it used to be & much more time waiting for the pages to load. I didn't want to go through all of those steps everytime I list an item (because I list the same item in several different categories) so to bypass that I would schedule all of the items I wanted to list, then go to into my pending auctions & cancel all of the listings so that I could then edit each one in a single-page format which did not require loading multiple pages just to change the category. This method no longer works because I must load a separate page in order to choose a category.
AALSO -- Relist unsold items takes more time for the same reason. To change the category I have to load multiple pages. This is all very time consuming.
The answers/solutions that have been suggested are ridiculous. Setting up inventory profiles will not solve the problem encountered when relisting a closed auction or listing a new inventory item. Using Sales Manager Pro will not solve the problem for the same reasons. Sales Manager Pro is great for creating new listings but does not have any effect on my online inventory items.
This may not seem like a big issue to you guys but when you have several hundred auctions running at any given time the time wasted waiting for pages to load becomes quite substantial. Please resolve this issue

It seems that an underlying problem here is back to the basic program defect that SmPro was not designed to sync with online inventory, so the problem cannot be circumvented and still maintain adequate service. If engineering could fix that, SmPro solves all the problems as long as the basic screens are not altered (e.g. only a 4th screen for item specifics is added to the current 3, or something like that). SmPro has to be changed anyway for the storeowners so they can track in inventory without a second trip to manually change all the quantities of each item after upload. Auction folks are also complaining that the program does not allow them to track their auctions round trip, which pretty much eliminates the benefits of bulk upload tools for those who signed up thinking they could track their auctions. Customer service has said for weeks that that this issue would be forwarded to product development and engineering. How close are those changes to becoming available? Is anyone seriously working on that?

Thanks Sonya. Any idea how the new SmPro will be handling the new category specifics dilemma, and when the new version is scheduled to come out?

Hi Passedtothepresent,
Unfortunately I don't have an ETA as to when it will be coming out. I am also not sure of how the attributes will be incorporated, but the new version will include them.

I am really disappointed that my issue/subject of this posting has not been acknowledged by anyone at AW; excuse me at Vendio.
Sonya has posted two replies within this posting, neither of them to me, or addressing my complaint.
Could someone at AW at least acknowledge that there is an issue concerning time wasted changing categories in inventory items, relisted auctions & so on.

Hi customveils,
I apologize for not personally responding to your post. It has been discussed at length in several different threads.
eBay is going to be adding Attributes to more categories in the future. These changes are ones you would have to make regardless, in order for your items to launch, at some point in time. The process flow is different now, but the number of clicks is exactly the same as before. We have eliminated the venue selection screen, and in its place is the category selector screen, which will actually save you a lot of time in the long run when more widespread support of Attributes has been implemented.
We realize that it is an inconvenience to you to have to change all your categories in inventory but you will have to do it at some point, since Attributes are required to list in a number of categories already.
Regards,
Sonya

No Sonya, that's my point. The issue I bring up has not been discussed at all, let alone "at length in other threads." Did you even read my post?
My complaint has nothing to do with the create listing process. And I am always changing categories in spite of your remark "you will have to do it at some point." Each time I list an online inventory item to auction or relist a closed auction I change the category which now requires two more clicks & subsequent page loads.
Look at it this way -- Two clicks per item plus page loading time on a good day when the site is not slow = additional 40 seconds/item. (conservative estimate)
Multiply that by 100 auctions per day (another conservative estimate) = 67 minutes. An extra hour work every day.
Multiplied by 7 days becomes 7+ HOURS. So now I have to work the equivalent of at least one extra day!!!!
Maybe you guys should actually use the program before you become moderators.
I will log a suggestion on your behalf with Product Development to put the categories on the same page with the ebay site specifics setup in inventory.

My point exactly. The only ones discussing it are AW users. Moderators keep saying that nothing has changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We do state that there was a change, and that the change is due to support of Attributes. Even though there was a change, the number of clicks remains the same for new listings.
