Hi,
Thanks for working on this new Ebay change problem with the photo preview. I went and change my setting to include the photo preview in my Ebay Specifics.
Launched an auction shortly after that. It worked...looked great. Just check my auction now and the photo preview is gone. Also the pic. icon on the title page is gone. I notice the disappearance happen at the same time I listed another auction. That auction currently has the photo preview working, plus at the bottom of the listing the photo is displayed again(added bonus?). The auction in question is #2940106396. Any idea what happen? Thanks.

Hello gottaluve,

If you saw that the image was attached when you launched the auction, I would imagine that this problem is on eBay's side - I would recommend checking with their customer service department as the image in the upper left and on the bottom are iPIX hosted images.

Thanks,

Diana

You're kidding right?....
You just rolled this feature out, and you think it is on Ebay's side?? I did this listing through you, remember. As far as I can see, nobody over at Ebay is complaining about there photo previews not working. That is, the sellers who use Ebay services to list.
Come on!!

Hello gottaluve,

Again - if you saw the image in the upper lefthand side of the auction listing page when the auction was first listed, and it is not appearing now, please check with eBay as this image is an iPIX hosted image. If the image *was* there, then it was launched successfully from our site to iPIX.

If, on the other hand, the image *never* appeared on the listing, then we would be able to investigate the issue for you.

Thank you,

Diana

Hi Diana,
I apologize, you're right, it is on ebay's side.
I just recently opened and eBay store in anticipation of Vendio's support of this. Because I do list through you guys I have to revise each listing to be able to place them in my store categories. It is when I make this revision that the picture preview disappears. I am still waiting on a reply from ebay on this. Any thoughts you might have as to why this is happening? Thanks.

Hi there,

Hmmm - I can't imagine why the preview would disappear when you revise your item, unless maybe the preview is not available for eBay Store items. Perhaps this is a feature that is not supported by this listing format. It would be helpful if you would let us know what eBay says about this.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Diana,
All listings are placed in an Ebay store,
no matter what the format; auction, fixed price, store.
I have received my reply from Ebay. First I will copy and paste my question to them and then I'll post their answer. Thanks for any help in this matter.

Hi,
I'm having trouble with the picture preview on the new selling format.
Let me outline what is happening:
1. I use Vendio to list, yesterday they added the support needed for us
to have the picture preview.
2. Tried it with a few listings it worked great.
3. Just recently opened an Ebay store. Until Vendio has store support, I
need to revise each listing to place them in my correct store
categories.
4. As soon as I revise these listings, I loose the picture preview. The
auctions in questions are #'s 2940106396 & 2940149294.

These both had the picture preview until I tried to revise them, my only
change was to put them in a store category.
Please help. Thanks very much.

Hello,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your listings. I apologize for
the difficulty you have experienced and I will be happy to help.

This has to do with the HTML within your description. I cannot see any
problems with the two items you mentioned, however if there are issues,
you must work with Vendio, because they create the HTML that is used.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.

Regards,

Hello,

It looks like the items in question were actually launched before we released support for the iPix feature.

I cannot say why eBay was unable to see that there never was an iPix image hosted on their system in the first place, but that is why there is not one there now. eBay did not lose the image hosted on their end just from your revising an auction, let alone any HTML issues, there just was no iPix image on those items to start with.

It looks like items you have listed with the iPix image attached since then, and revised those to add to your eBay stores categories without eBay losing the images, so you should be all set.

Regards,
Christopher

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion.

Now eBay states that the things you changed for this item were :

Picture URL
Store Category

What about the picture URL did you change?
Was this item in a storefront category already, you just changed which one, or did you have to change it from 'Other' to the one it is listed in now?

If it wasn't listed as being in the 'Other' category, what was listed for the storefront category when you went in to edit it to the one its in now?

Regards,
Christopher

Hi Christopher,
I don't know why ebay would state that I revised two things. I simply took the item out of "other" category and put it into the correct Store Category. Now, to do this type of revision, I have to click on "Edit pictures or descriptions to fix any problem", located on the second page after clicking on "Revise this item" on the listing page.
This is the only way I can get into "store categories" to make the change. You should know also that I lose my little camera icon on my listing line. Thanks for any help.

Hello,

Try editing another one, 2940757258 as an example.

Use the 'Revise your item' link in the listing itself. In the edit page, use only the 'Edit Pictures and Details' link.

When you click on the 'Edit pictures & details' link, you can edit the storefront category this item is listed in. When you do, be sure only to change the store category it is listed in currently.

Note that when you are on this page, you will see the one picture that is posted on the eBay ipix service. Just be sure you still see it here, then click the save change button.

Confirm the changes on the final page, and let us know what the results of your efforts are, along with any differences from how you did it before.

When you edit just the store category the way I mention, eBay should only list that one of the revisions was to the store category, and say nothing about the picture URL as it seems to on those items where the ipix image went missing somehow.

Regards,
Christopher

Hi,
Just did that revision, and I lost the picture preview. I click on the "edit pictures and details" did nothing but change the store category. There is this pop up that comes up right after I click "edit pictures and details" It asks if I want to install and run "iPix Rimfire ActiveX Control". I have no idea what that is, so I click no, the page automatically refreshes, and then I make the change to the store category. Sorry...I should have mention that before.

Hello gottaluve,

That is the little window that shows the eBay pictures, and allows you to edit/view the ones already added to that listing.

Im guessing this is the conflict. Would you be willing to do one more, only this time say yes?

When you say yes and it is fully installed, clicking on the 'Edit Pictures and Details' link should both give you the option to change the store category, as well as view that one image that is loaded into Ipix (which you could not see up till now without that software installed.)

I don't want to point blame anywhere till we know what is happening exactly, but I would be willing to bet this is an eBay issue with adding a picture to their image hosting service when you dont have their image hosting services tool installed on your machine - then going to a page that would display said image.

Sounds confusing, and it is, but at least we will know the cause and can notify eBay of this issue. Additionally, I think once you allow this Ipix service/tool to load into your browser, you won't lose images when you revise your items anymore.

Good luck, and let us know the results of your efforts.

Regards,
Christopher

Okay Christopher,
Thank you sooo much. I did that and it worked. I'm afraid to install anything on my PC as it is a dinosaur. Just bought a new one and will be setting it up soon to use.
I sorry I didn't mention that pop-up sooner as obviously that was the problem. Thanks for working with me and I hope you don't won't to shoot me.
