Hi, new problem. I have been putting images on AW for four years. Never had a problem with images being too large to load. Now I have had seven in a row. Same type of items I have been taking pics of for years. Same camera, same settings. Same thing happened the other day and I tried it later in the day and it took. Didn't even reshoot. Was the same image I had tried earlier in the day. What's going on? Please advise. Oversized images are coming in a range from 379 to 450. Thanks, Steve

Hi again, just noticed something. Went back into manage images and browse and tried to load images with the original name (numbers) and they were all in the 100 to 200KB range. It was only after I gave each of them a name is when they jumped up into the over 350 range. I of course have to give each image a name or I wouldn't be able to find it when putting the images into an auction. Please advise your thoughts. Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,

I cannot say why simply renaming your images would change the fize size so drastically. Are you just right-clicking on them and using that option to change the filename first?

Or do you have some type of image editing program you use to rename them first?

Christopher

Hi Christopher, to answer your second question first. I use Kodak Easy Share Software. I select an image - do whatever needs to be done to make it better and then rename under save as. I was on the phone with Kodak for awhile today on an unrelated to this problem matter and told them about this as well. She said that renaming the image is not causing the problem. It is by changing the image via contrast, brightness, cropping etc. I am not sure why this is happening now. I have never had this happen before with my older IBM laptop which is now dead and buried and had Windows 98. Now I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 5100 with Windows XP. Could it be the XP that is the problem. I have been using this Dell for about a month now without problems. It is just yesterday and today that this "too large" problem is coming up. Believe me when I tell you that I'm doing nothing differently, and the types of items that I'm taking pictures of are no different then ones I have done in the past. I'm by no means a computer literate person, but I feel that after four years I'm pretty confident that my picture taking is right on.So, there is a problem somewhere and I hope that you guys can help resolve it. For instance. I just loaded a leather jacket with no problem and a shirt came up as "too large". Shouldn't happen. Thanks, Steve

Hello,

XP itself is not the issue im sure, but if you had to reload whatever software you use into this new machine, it certainly is possible that some of the defaults or preferences have changed. While you may be going about the process the same, you may be doing this process under new or different settings or preferences from how you were before.

Unfortunately, with all image editing software being different, we are not setup to offer support on how to use it, but you should be able to locate some type of 'resolution' or file type setting to say you want to save these images for use on the Web. Typically, most of these types of programs have an option to save an image specifically for use on the web, where it will give you the best quality image you can get, while lowering the file size as much as possible so slowly computers can load your items without waiting for too long.

Regards,
Christopher
